partial rank correlation coefficient
Hi All, a colleague asked me if R has a function producing a Partial Rank Correlation Coefficient, sensu Blower and Dowlatabadi 1994 [1]. I personally would not have a clue, and I could not find something like that on the search page... although I would not be surprised if it's there under a different name. Incidentally, unfortunately the function, assuming it exists, is to be fed to some MSc students....

...t with the appropriate comment. Ideally, I would want to commit and push the difference between a local working branch and the ‘main’ branch, which is what I can’t figure out how do do. I would be surprised if there’s not a simple solution for that. Thanks. [RFC] Add support for options -fp-model= and -fp-speculation= : specify floating point behavior
Intel would like to contribute a patch to implement support for these Intel- and Microsoft -fp options. This message is to describe the options and request feedback from the community. -fp-model=[precise|strict|fast|except[-]] and -fp-speculation=[fast|strict|safe] This contribution would dovetail with the llvm patch "Teach the IRBuilder about constrained fadd and friends" which is

Combining fast math flags with constrained intrinsics

The mental model that I have is that there is always an FP_CONTRACT pragma: there's some default (implicit) pragma at the beginning, and what it says (off/on/fast) is controlled by the command-line flags (or the driver's default if no flags

Floating point semantic modes
Hi all, I'm trying to put together a set of rules for how the various floating point semantic modes should be handled in clang. A lot of this information will be relevant to other front ends, but the details are necessarily bound to a front end implementation so I'm framing the discussion here in terms of clang. Other front ends can choose to follow clang or not. The existence of this set

Kernel:[Hardware Error]: use of vacuum
...s. so, in general I open up this box twice a year > and vacuum out the house dirt and cat fuzzies. I'm probably overdue for > this task. Cleaning is a good thing to do, but not with a vacuum... the vacuum could loosen components, even make them disappear. Much better would be to use a blower or bellows of some kind. Also, cowboys scoff, but I always wear a grounded wrist strap when handling electronics.

Server hangs on CentOS 5.5
Hi -- I'm running a server which is usually stable, but every once in a while it hangs. The server is used as a file store using NFS and to run VMware machines. I don't see anything in /var/log/messages or elsewhere to indicate any problem or offer any clue why the system was hung. Any suggestions where I might look for a clue? -- Michael Eager eager at eagercon.com 1960 Park Blvd.,

FreeBSD 10-CURRENT and 9-STABLE snapshots
Hi, A number of FreeBSD users have displayed interest in the availability and testing of -STABLE and -CURRENT snapshot releases. I have been working on generating snapshots regularly, and now would like to announce their availability for those interested in testing. Please note, as always with the -STABLE and -CURRENT branches, these snapshots are not intended for production systems. The
