New samba server
...I would not have to do that if I left the domain name the same and set the SID on the new server. I just want to make sure I am not missing something before I go around to all 400 computers on campus and have them removed and rejoined to the domain. Computers leaving samba domain
...hat, but I have not done that on any of these. One lab has brand new computers. The other lab just got imaged day before yesterday. I'll go ahead and get them all added back in, but I need to find what to be looking for if they keep doing this. I finally got around to testing this on a Bloomfield processor (Early 2009 MacPro 2x2.66 GHz dual-quad core) and the regressions from http://llvm.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=22589 are even more severe. ldap? Samba? Nss?
...way. I noticed this first on my batch user add program for adding users to ldap/samba. The program reads in the users and groups with getpwent and getgrent and it really takes a long time. Spectral Coherence
Greetings, I would like to estimate a spectral coherence between two timeseries. The stats : spectrum() returns a coh matrix which estimates coherence (squared). A basic test which from which i expect near-zero coherence: x = rnorm(500) y = rnorm(500) xts = ts(x, frequency = 10) yts = ts(y, frequency = 10) gxy = spectrum( cbind( xts, yts ) ) plot( gxy $ freq, gxy $

Getting parameters of Gaussian fit in density
Is there a way to obtain the parameters (mean, sd, amplitude) of the gaussian functions obtained in a density fit to data. The faithful $waiting times is a standard example. The 2-gaussian fit is very nice, but how can I obtain the parameters? Thanks for your help. Regards, Victor Bloomfield

Replacing a Samba server
...ve it rejoin the domain when I put the new server in place? If that is the case, can I set the SID on the new samba server to be the same as the old samba server and will that do the trick so that I do have to go around to each computer? Help with 'spectrum'
For the command 'spectrum' I read: The spectrum here is defined with scaling 1/frequency(x), following S-PLUS. This makes the spectral density a density over the range (-frequency(x)/2, +frequency(x)/2], whereas a more common scaling is 2? and range (-0.5, 0.5] (e.g., Bloomfield) or 1 and range (-?, ?]. Forgive my ignorance but I am having a hard time interpreting this. Does this mean that in the spectrum output every element of the $spec array is scaled by 1/frequency(x)? I am having a hard time determing what is meant by 'frequency'.Say I define a time series...

Fourier Analysis and Curve Fitting in R
...s of snow depth, in which the annual curve is essentially asymmetric (i.e. snow accumulates slowly over time, and the subsequent melt occurs relatively rapidly). I am trying to fit a curve to the data, however, the actual frequency is unknown. I have been trying to follow the methods in Peter Bloomfields text "Fourier Analysis of Time Series", but am having trouble implementing this in R. Does anyone have any suggestions, or perhaps directions on how this might be done properly? Am I using the right methods for fitting an asymmetric curve? Any help is greatly appreciated, Sincerely...

Samba and LDAP install on FreeBSD
