SUCCESS report: samba3 as single-sign-on provider in heterogeneous network
Hi all, to raise the bug vs success ratio i'd like to express my gratitude to all samba members and those who, though not in-core developers, generously supported noobs like me on this mail list. I've set up an environment two months ago and it has run without glitches or tweaks since then. Now as misusing my family as beta testers has worked out so nicely i will deploy an identical

Why is .journal file sometimes visible and sometimes not?
Hi. I recently migrated two machines from ext2 to ext3. Kernels (nearly identical) are 2.4.9-ac9 + preemptivity-patch + wrr-patch. The Installations are based on Mandrake 7.2 + 8.0. Also I have e2fstools-1.23 newly compiled on them. Both machines have two ext3 partitions (root + multimedia-data). On one machine I see a .journal file on both partitions, on the other machine (Mandrake-8.0)

[bug?] smbclient does not honour '-s' option
Hi, 'smbd' and 'nmbd' do behave well however 'smbclient' does not, so some of the other binaries neither i suppose. Running 'smbclient -s /etc/samba-pdc/config' gives me: params.c:OpenConfFile() - Unable to open configuration file "/opt/samba-3.0.0beta3/lib/smb.conf": No such file or directory bin/smbclient: Can't load

security implications of joining machine to domain
Hi folks. Can anybody give some facts about $SUBJECT? I have Samba3 running as PDC. I joined my machines (windows and unix) to the domain using the configured administrative account. Is the machine accounts created in this step given kind of privilege 'boost' over common user accounts? Supposed the client machine did not cache the entered administrative credentials, is the machine
