Regular expressions: retrieving matches depending on intervening strings [Follow-up]
Dear all
This is a follow-up to an earlier posting today regarding a regular expression question. In the meantime, this is the best approximation I could come up with and should give you a better idea what I am talking about.

Erlang Loss Function in R
This is my first post here. As a new user of R, I was pleased to discover a
simple and elegant way to compute in R the Erlang Loss Function, which I
present below.
INTRODUCTION
The Erlang Loss Function is defined as
elf(n, a ) = ( a^n/n! ) / ( 1 + a + a^2/2 + a^3/3! + ... + a^n/n!)
for all real numbers a>=0 and all integers n>=0 (except that the function is
undefined when BOTH n and a

subnet flooded with lots of ADD_EDGE request
Hello,
We're suffering from sporadic network blockage(read: unable to ping
other nodes) with 1.1-pre17. Before upgrading to the 1.1-pre release,
the same network blockage also manifested itself in a pure 1.0.33
network.
The log shows that there are a lot of "Got ADD_EDGE from nodeX
(192.168.0.1 port 655) which does not match existing entry" and it
turns out that the mismatches

Some quick mrtg help
Ok, I'm having a major brain hemorrhage or something. I just can't get
mrtg setup on my box. I've done it before and it's not like it's brain
surgery but there's a mental block or something that I just can't get
around. All I want to do is have a nice, simple graph of the traffic on
the box and the gateway in the standard day/week/month/year thing. I've
got the

Do you control your home server ? If so, then .htaccess is the wrong
solution, because you need to incorporate blockages in your IP Tables
firewall and then use your Apache configuration file to restrict any
remaining unwanted visitors.
.htaccess (its possible in Apache to rename it) is inefficient and
suitable as a second-rate solution when you are using a hosted service
and lack full control of the server. VPSs ar...

One-way audio with VPN
I've got a one-way audio problem, but I've looked through a few
documents on the subject and I'm not sure that it's the same issue.

.htaccess file
Hello,
My home system on a DSL line is getting worn out by bad behavior robots.
Awhile back, I created a .htaccess file that block countries by IP blocks.
Its 2MB in size.
I have been running Linux since Slackware 1.0 and moved to Redhat around
2.0. I started after running a BBS using a doorway for newsgroups. Been
hooked ever since.
So, today, I tried following the directions for

Jack, tried the CVS version still getting:

Any idea what it means? Is it a mis-configuration? Sometime to do w/

Network Install Problems
Installation over the network has seemingly failed, for the second time.
Everything goes smoothly until about 1/3 to 1/2 of the way through the
downloading packages stage, at which point it hangs (both times its been
8% through a package, not sure if this is of any significance, 1st time
cups and now gawk).
I set the install to look on the mirror.centos.org site and use the

rsync-2.6.8 hangs on AIX
We're copying a large number of 256MiB-files from one
AIX-5.3 machine to anoter, using rsync-2.6.8 (with ssh). In
the morning, the rsync process stopped to copy any more files
(it is still hanging as I write this, and we can leave it alone for
a couple of days).
There is another machine in between that forwards all tcp
packets to the target machine:

syn flood protection - inside initiated attacks
Perhaps someone will help me on this :-
I have read a lot of examples of syn flood protect on the INPUT chain.
That I have no question at all.
I wonder if it make sense to perform syn flood protection
at the FORWARD chain ? If packets are originated from a
LAN worm, and are not targetted at the firewall itself, but
rather at hosts in the internet, will it cause problem with
the firewall itself,

I declare ices stable
What's the trick. My server will hardly serve 4 people without
skipping and eventually dropping the connection. I am running from a
cable modem to a T1 network! Is there a trick.
I set the default_bitrate everywhere from 24k to 128k with varying
degree's of shittiness. I am using the latest sources from both the
project websites. I would really like to get it running. The

R as a non-functional language
I'm reading Torgo (2010) *Data Mining with

preparation for a class I'll be teaching next quarter. Here's an
example
that is very non-functional.

R-3.3.0 Base: Windows compilation fails while building 'base' package
Hi,
I'm trying to builda R-3.3.0 base package on Windows 8.1, and it fails
while building 'base' package with an error about unable to create a
directory
under /tmp.
I am running the make from my D:\ partition, and I have created a \TMP
directory
under both C:\ and D:\. I have also modified my environment variables TEMP
and TMP both point to C:\TMP.

All the rest of what you described in (show that the maintainer is active, etc.), and also, waiting for the implementation to be “complete” (as in “all patches integrated”).

downgrading packages
After the large update from 7.2 -> 7.3 there is
one major problem, the amanda backup packages.
Strange situation, the host is the amanda server
is working fine at backing up all my remote clients.
But it has an error backing up itself.
The amanda packages did not change version (3.3.3)
and I've done no configuration change.
I'm not looking for help debugging this at the moment.
