Centos and Software RAID
I purchased an Intel D945GNT motherboard and it comes in the BIOS with an option to create a RAID 0 or RAID 1 volumes using my existing two SATA disks. However when installing Centos 4.3 x86_64 I see the the installer recognices the two drives and does not "see" the RAID 0. Is that ok? Should I disable the RAID in the BIOS and then go for a LVM+RAID 0 setup in the installer ? Since it

Add Monitor application to call suppresses audio
I have an application where we receive calls on an inbound PRI. After hours, our Asterisk box dials our answering service on an outbound PRI and then bridges the caller to the answering service. The flow looks like this: (CALLER)INBOUND_PRI --> CONTEXT --> GOSUB(Incoming) --> GOSUB(bridge-to-anssrv) --> DIAL(answering_service) --> OUTBOUND_PRI(service) This has been working

Another Tar stopper
Well, I have been busy getting child #4 off on her way to college (joining #2). So now it is quite with just the 2 youngest and I can get work done again!. tar stops as follows: /root/.nautilus/metafiles/x-nautilus-desktop:%2F%2F52F.xml tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors. I thought perhaps this is some file locked becuase I was running from a terminal session in gnome. So I

Asterisk sudden crash
Hi I am using asterisk-1.6.0.6 and I have noticed strange behaviour lately. When a user ends his call asterisk executes twice the h extensions (in my case this is the AGI script) and writes this to the logs: cdr.c: CDR on channel 'SIP/xxxxxx-b6623038' already posted. and after that it crashes immediately. This had happened twice so far. Does anyone know what is causing this.? Cheers

Asterisk process ended
Hi all, I experienced for a second time the crash of asterisk process during the night. Nothing in Asterisk messages logs, nothing in /var/log/messages can explain that. Maybe someone experienced something similar and can drive me in the resolution ? Regards, A.L -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

How to upgrade hard drive in a single drive (with LVM2) computer
This one has me stumped and I'm sure I must be missing something trivial. What is is eludes me. I have a 20G drive that will be replaced with a 160G drive. The /boot partition is just a standard type 83, and the swap is an 82. The system root partition is in a LV, as is the /home partition. I've upgraded hard drives dozens of times without incident, but never ona system with LVM.

How does IMAP notify Asterisk that I've read a message?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I have an Asterisk box sitting between the PSTN and a legacy PBX. I have successfully configured Asterisk to use IMAP for voicemail and have written the necessary script to turn the MWI indicator (via a .call file to the PBX) on and off. I have two issues still outstanding: 1) When the user listens to his voice mail via the phone, it will be

Centos 4 & Cisco 350 MiniPCI Wireless
I have an IBM Thinkpad with this beastie in it. The card was immediately recognized and uses the airo driver. No matter what I do, I can't get it to successfully connect to my WAP. Sometimes it sees the access point (as evidenced by an iwlist wifi0 scan seeing the network) and sometimes I can actually get it to connect ( as evidenced by the iwlist command showing the WAP ID).

swatch 3.1.1 & CentOS 3.4
I have need of the functionality of the "swatch" utility. Prior to the actual installation of swatch I used perl2rpm to create RPMs for the PERL modules not provided in CentOS. I got a clean 'make test' from the package so I know that everything is configured properly. The bottom line is that the utility appears to be broken. I can downgrade to version 3.0.8, which

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I'm have a bit of a problem with temporary greetings. I'm using 1.6.0.1 with IMAP storage. If I go into comedian mail and record a temporary greeting, I get a Message [0] on my IMAP server. In addition, I get /var/spool/asterisk/voicemail/default/134/temp.[gsm|wav|WAV] files. Who has the clever Polycom upgrade system?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I remember someone wrote a great document concerning Polycom server provisioning that provided a way to ensure that updates to the firmware did not overwrite customizations. I'll be damned if I can remember where I saw it. It may have been discussed during a VUC session or may have been on this list. Either way, I'm unable to google my way

res_cepstral, register & existing Cepstral licenses.
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I have a license for Allison-8kHz and two concurrent port licenses that I purchased from Cepstral at the end of last year. I just got around to installing to my * 1.6.0.10 machine. I've decided that the best way for me to integrate the two would be res_cepstral, which I downloaded and installed. Everything is fine, except the register program,

Anyone successfully using CentOS 5 and a Keyspan USA-19HS USB-Serial Adapter?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I occasionally need to connect to a serial device and in the past have used minicom and the Keyspan USA-19HS adapter. It has worked flawlessly. Once I upgraded, I could never seem to make this work. The kernel recognizes the adapter, it gets properly assigned as /dev/ttyUSB0, and minicom seems to transmit data to it (as evidenced by the green LED

ip_conntrack_ftp fails to load on CentOS 4.3
I have a CentOS 4.3 box that is giving me some serious problem. During the "yum update" from 4.2 -> 4.3 I lost my connection (okay, I accidentally closed the window). I logged back on and did another yum update, and it appeared as though things completed properly. Everything is working fine, up until one of my hosting clients noted that he is now unable to use ftp to update his web

For you old-timers, an RS232 question about data rate confirmation.
Hello all. This is a question that I should be able to answer, but the old grey cells aren't working. My Google-Fu must not be up to snuff, either. I have a MOXA IP-RS232 converter that I'm going to be using over an RF WAN and I need to confirm the actual data rate that I'll be able to achieve. I have the drivers loaded (/dev/ttyr00) and a loopback plug on the end of the device. I

an RPM conundrum
I have an interesting chicken-and-egg problem that I hope someone can help me out of. I have a machine on which I originally loaded White Box. I subsequenty converted to CentOS using the instructions found numerous times in the group -- e.g. get the redhat-package RPM (thus changing /etc/redhat-release), then configuring yum and then yum -y upgrade. Everything has been going fine... that

Possible to cause Yum to "reload" packages a second time?
I wrote in a thread entitled "ip_conntrack_ftp fails to load on CentOS4.3" that I had what I considered to be a borked upgrade, using yum update. When I went from 4.2 -> 4.3 I ceased to be able to use the ip_conntrack_ftp module, thus cutting off my users from ftp access. What I'd like to do is get yum to rerun its update procedure, which should allow any post processing that
