[1.5.2]-Blizzard Game Downloader Crashes?
Hi, Blizzard's game download program is crashing on WINE 1.5.2. When run, program downloads game for few minutes then crashes with segfault. Both WINE 1.4.x and current WINE 1.5.2 show this problem. Both Linux Mint 12 KDE 64Bit and current Kubuntu 12.04 LTS 64Bit show this problem. I really want to play StarCraft 2 game(which I purchased) on my Linux. Any help would be appreciated... Jesse

World of Warcraft Launcher.exe keeps crashing
wine-1.3.29 There's a small update to World of Warcraft today. When I run launcher.exe under Wine, it keeps crashing. I read on this forum that doing "winetricks ie7" would solve the problem, but at the end of installing IE7, the setup program says: Setup was unable to install the latest Windows Internet Explorer updates. After you restart your computer....etc. etc. It gives me

Blizzard Game Store Downloader doesn't work
I'm not really sure what the problem is or how to report it. It likely affects each individual game downloader application regardless of the game. Anyway, the problem is that when you register a CD-Key or buy a digital copy of a game from the Blizzard store, they give you a P2P downloader app. Someone on the forums said it has some of your account information embedded in it to authorize

Blizzard game bug
The bug listed for StarCraft2 at http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21809 applies to several Blizzard games, including the version of World of Warcraft that hit the live servers this morning. The latest posting I see on the bug report page was made sixteen days ago and the bug is not listed as fixed or closed. Does anyone know what, if any, version of Wine includes the fix for this

Can't create folders in .wine/drive_c/users/public/App Data/...
OK, so I don't know what's going on. (even with tinyproxy/firehol off the following occurs). Unless wine is run by root, when WoW is first loaded and trying to login, WoW creates a Cache folder and a bunch of folders under cache for login purposes. The Cache folder exists in: <wine profile dir>/drive_c/users/Public/Applicatoin data/Blizzard Entertainment/Battle.net. Now it can

I'm almost very impressed with theora 1.1 beta 3
Firstly I have to say that having just tried out theora 1.1 beta 3 the improvement over the previous 1.0 is amazing. In my very subjective view it looks like the same quality for about half the bitrate and that's amazingly impressive. The results have for the most part been excellent and my congratulations to all concerned for there very hard work. There is (for me) only one serious problem

WOW "fixes"
I've run across the following two articles on the wow wiki. The first link is the general page for Linux/Wine. The sound and voice chat is what I'm most interested in about the second link. Can anyone comment on how current and useful these tips are? It's nice to know that Blizzard knows about and actually seems to "care" about Linux users, but I really do NOT want to break

WOW patch downloads hang
Latest Wine version, Debian Lenny, fast computer. The previous pre-patch download finally finished (300+ MB in about 4 hours. The current one (about same size) stops at 72% (273 MB). I have "Don't throttle download" checked. Also "peer-to-peer transfer". That sounds like some kind of bit torrent. I don't use that. Because this process appears to be done in Wine, does

Urgent information (legal stuff) about the future of SAMBA
I am sending you this email because of an incident which threatens the very existance of Samba. Earlier today, the bnetd project was shut down to the DMCA. Since bnetd is alot like Samba, I figured you would be interested. Bnetd is a server that pretends to be a battle.net server (starcraft multiplayer). This server was created by reverse engineering the communcations protocol, just like Samba

diablo 1 fun and troubles
I have installed Diablo 1 lately and found Wine can't load the game succesfully. I see a few frames of Blizzard's intro, then it freezes. With Cedega 4.0 it works pretty well> I played for a couple hours then found later I can't load my games back. Ain't that funny? It seems to be a menu problem. Another thing I noticed with Cedega is, multiplayer hangs really quick.

WoW - WotLK - install is a hassle :(
Very disappointing on the install so far. The files are on the disk in some format that is only letting me see two of the 'some number more than two' files that are there. One of the files I can see is and Install.exe but it does nothing when double clicked, nothing when I right click and select 'Open with "Wine Windows Program Loader"'. When I try to run it from a

Question about Icecast2 when not streaming
Hmm. Even with the file in the right place, Icecast still doesn't use it when my stream is offline. I can access the file using it's URL, so I know Icecast has access to it. This is what I have in my configuration file. <mount> <mount-name>/stream.mp3</mount-name> <fallback-mount>/StreamWarning.mp3</fallback-mount>

I see. I'm not sure how I keep missing things in the Icecast docs. I'll give that location a try. Starcraft 2 beta coming soon
Starcraft 2 is the new next Blizzard RTS game. It's going to be released later this year, but the beta is coming soon. It will probably work nicely with Wine. Just like every other Blizzard game is working. Still it would be nice, if we'd get perfect support for it. It would be great if we would be able to fix all problems on the beta stage and then the final game would work perfectly on

wisotool: automated game installer, now supports 12 games
wisotool is a handy winetricks-like script for automatically installing games from .iso files copied from your own dvds (or, if the game is freely downloadable, it will download it). Just like winetricks, it is intended to make testing Wine easier, but might be useful for people who simply want to install games. Unlike winetricks, wisotool is quiet by default; it doesn't ask any questions

Problems installing WoW on Fedora 13
Hi there. I am not a Linux noob, but equally, I wouldn't say I'm an expert either; I get by. Recently built myself a new Fedora 13 box, running an AMD quad 955. I chose X64, which may have been my first BIG mistake, but I've stuck with that decision. I have installed Wine, and have the 32bit version working. I play WoW on XP, but, would like to get it running under Wine. The
