As should be evident , you thought wrong (and you are thinking in the
blinkered Windows way, too).
On Windows, file() can take a filename "clipboard" in text mode only.
load() and save() are not using file(), but you could probably use it
explicitly in ASCII mode.
Don't assume your own errors are bugs in other peoples' work: it is
discourteous.

save(iris,file="clipboard",ascii=TRUE)
Is this a bug? I thought that "clipboard" could always be substituted
for a filename when dealing with ASCII files.

Error in file(file, "wb") : `mode' for the clipboard must be `r' or `w'

You shouldn't pay too much attention to the religeous ranting of
blinkered Bayesians.
Of course p-values should be taken with a grain of salt. But
then so should everything else. Including Bayesian methods.
Remember that all models are just that --- models. They are not
reality. George Box said something like ``All models are wrong.
Some models are useful.''...

Facter ''operatingsystemrelease'' fact.
From looking at the Facter code, it looks like the
''operatingsystemrelease'' fact is currently a mirror of the
''kernelrelease'' fact.
I''d like to implement this fact so that it returns the major version of
the operating system, eg:
Debian Sarge: operatingsystemrelease => 3.1
Debian Etch: operatingsystemrelease => 4.0

Ferret on Apache Installation
Hi,
had my local linux box setup and ferret was working like a champ via
Webrick.
However, when I moved to a different linux box using Apache web server,
search no worky..giving the error listed below. The site itself comes up
fine.
I''ve tried deleting all the dirs under /index and restarted the
webserver to see if re-indexing would help, but that made matters worse.
