Panic on boot with 7.3 kernels when decrypting hard drive
...-the only way out is to cut the power. I was able to fall back to the still-installed 4.4.36-1.el7.elrepo.x86_64 kernel with no problems. On a whim, I tried installing the latest mainline kernel from ELrepo as well (kernel-ml-4.9.0-1.el7.elrepo.x86_64) and encountered a similar hard lock, minus the blinkenlight in the caps lock key. Has anyone else had a similar issue? Is there anything in what I've described that sounds obvious to what the solution is? It really just seems like the problems are with kernels that have come through following the 7.3 release. I'm still somewhat new at getting into...

Confirming Multi-Processor
I have a test bed server that's pretty old- PIII Dual 550. I've done yum update kernel-smp and when I run cat/proc/cpuinfo it lists both processors- is there anything I need to to to confirm that it's fully utilizing both processors? I ask this because under the old OS (Fedora Core 2) I always saw an error message at boot that said something about operating in single-processor mode

Last call for fixes: Releasing tomorrow
I think I''ve got every fix except one in that''s going to make it into grover, which I''ll hopefully be releasing tomorrow. I plan on adding Tim Stoop''s patches for home directory management (#432), but everything else is getting pushed to the next release at this point. I''ve fixed all of the major bugs, or at least I think I have. If

Bandwidth Metering
Hi, How do you meter the amount of bandwidth a user has consumed (as webhosting companies do) under linux? I have searched everywhere, but have been unable to find a solution. Removing circular dependant RPM files with Package.
Hello, I just attempted to remove both the ypbind and the yp-tools packages using the package parameter with yum. As it turns out, both of these packages depend on each other. Is there a way of forcing package removal and, if there is not, is there a way of making all packages to be removed be collapsed into the same yum command? Either of these solutions would solve the problem with the

Using multiple values for source, for platform/arch/host configs
Hi, in an attempt to simplify my configuration, and from a suggestion on IRC, I was thinking of using multiple values for file { source => [] }. Was just currious if anyone had any comments on this. Basically, I setup my file-server to use: <snip> [private] path /var/lib/puppet/files/private/%H allow * [shared] path /var/lib/puppet/files/shared allow *

ZFS panics solaris while switching a volume to read-only
Hi, I just found out that ZFS triggers a kernel-panic while switching a mounted volume into read-only mode: The system is attached to a Symmetrix, all zfs-io goes through Powerpath: I ran some io-intensive stuff on /tank/foo and switched the device into read-only mode at the same time (symrdf -g bar failover -establish). ZFS went ''bam'' and triggered a Panic: WARNING: /pci at
