Asterisk support for Bittorrent Bleep
Hello, Full disclosure: my name is Farid Fadaie and I'm in charge of BitTorrent Bleep (a private P2P SIP-based messaging application in early alpha) http://blog.bittorrent.com/2014/07/30/building-an-engine-for-decentralized-communications/ I have personally been a fan of Asterisk and have been using it for years and now that we have (kind of) released Bleep, I wanted to ask you guy...

FLAC Albums on sale this month
I don't want this to sound like an advertisement, because I'm certainly not making any money off of this, but Bleep.com is having a sale on lossless downloads, and nearly all of the titles are available in FLAC. http://bleep.com/index.php?page=dynamic&module=marchsale Bleep offers a nice alternative to Linn Records and HDtracks, in case your tastes are more underground. should `data` respect default.stringsAsFactors()?
Hiya, Probably been debated elsewhere.... I note that R's `data` function does not respect default.stringsAsFactors By my lights, it should, especially as it is documented to call read.table, which DOES respect. Oh, but: http://r.789695.n4.nabble.com/stringsAsFactors-FALSE-tp921891p921893.html Compelling. I have to agree. So, I change my mind. By my lights, `data` should then be

Annoying Sipura problem?
...gue phone connected to the device through the SIP/IAX/Zap lines connected to the asterisk box. However - everytime the asterisk box does a 'sip reload' the Sipura 'blips' the phone within about 5-15 seconds of the reload. They've tried 3 different phones, but they all give a bleep or tinkle, so I guess the Sipura is pulsing the line whenever the asterisk box reloads the sip configuration. The Sipura appears to be at the latest and greatest firmware (according to my colleague at the far-end), but I've not had any first-hand experience of these boxes. It also appears...

Advice/directions to users of Syslinux
...te Boot CD, and OpenELEC to follow in the footsteps of, e.g. the Archlinux folks and the Debian folks and the LessLinux folks i.e. by just simply distributing images that can be (no-brainer) block-by-block copied onto USB sticks in order to produce a working stick... using either dd or whatever the bleep its counterpart on Windows/DOS might be. In fact, the more I think about it, the more I think that it is rather entirely ill-advised for Clonezilla to have four different recommended install procedures for Windows and an additional three different procedures for Linux. de-essing into speex?
...ost of computer-ish background noise, like turning into russian radio stations on the am band, if you get my drift. ess sounds are particularily fragile to this. wma removes all high-freq/treble of the voice, and makes it "round" and dark, but there is no evidence of the computer-bleep bleep effects made by speex, the human voices sound like human voices, only blunter, in a way. ess sounds do not become embarassing. to accomplish the same file size (or bit rate) with wma and spx, the spx quality turns out so poor it is not usable (quality 2) i tried to downsample my wav fil...

...at works right out of the box. However, getting R going took me a few tries. First get your Eee an internet connection. This was embarrassingly easy for me, I just plugged it into the D-Link router, clicked the LAN option and in a few seconds I was online. It also has wireless and even yer old bleep-buzz modem options. You may be able to run R on the Easy Desktop, but I went straight to the Full Desktop (KDE). There is an excellent description of how to download the necessary files and enable KDE at: http://wiki.eeeuser.com/howto:getkde This gives you what most people who use Linux are us...

...private to request the IP address instead of slaac hwaddr - and suggested that I change the /etc/dhcpcd.conf file. Well CentOS 7 doesn't use that, and trying to figure out where in the mess of /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts the problem is occurring has caused me much frustration. Why the bleep can't stuff like this be simple KISS with simple key=value configuration files? So for now, that particular nameserver is only IPv4 until I figure it out, and modifying the network scripts to try and figure out how to fix it raises my blood pressure because if a modification causes the IPv4...

results from testing ess sounds at 16000 hz
jean-marc, i tried like you recommended to resample the 44100 hz speech file with the ess sounds to 16000 hz before speexenc-ing it. result was good actually, i was able to use quality 8 without any signs of sound bleeping, and the file size was very small (7324 bytes compared to 9319 bytes with windows media voice at full quality). the downside to this is that high frequencies are lost, which i think is what is causing the problem in the first place. the voice in the sound clip is not very crisp anymore. would...

What the <bleep> are you on about? data() does many things, only some of which call read.table() et al., and the ones that do have no special treatment of stringsAsFactors. -pd > On 18 Feb 2016, at 21:25 , Cook, Malcolm <MEC at stowers.org> wrote: > > Hiya, > > Probably been debated els...
