Using CentOS 4.4 on very old Dell Inspiron 3500 laptop; would like suggestions regarding using KDE/GNOME in low RAM and low disk situation
...because I have only 192mb RAM and 4gb disk (total). I'd like suggestions on how to maximize the effective usage of the laptop with CentOS 4.4...as a minimum I want to do secure wireless web browsing. If KDE or GNOME needs more disk/RAM than I have available is XCFE the only alternative to the bleak Motif experience? I don't have any money to get a better laptop or to upgrade the RAM and/or disk at this time. Thanks, Ken Wolcott -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... cvs bulid breaks on slackware
cvs code from this morning (about 9am PST) breaks on slackware 7.1 w/ gcc 2.95.2.1 with an undefined reference to session_setup_sia in session.o. this seems to be the culprit here: #ifdef HAVE_OSF_SIA #else /* HAVE_OSF_SIA */ session_setup_sia(pw->pw_name, ttyname); since i have no idea what that's trying to accomplish (and seems to be a bit backwards to me from looking

Ancient SMB client issues
...ars now. I have created a virtual Debian/Samba 4.19 server with the intention of moving over the SMB shares that the robots need to this server. If I connect from Windows 10 clients to the Samba servers shares, no issues. If I try the same from the robot (ancient SMB) then it fails with the rather bleak ?protocol negotiation failed: NT_STATUS_INVALID_NETWORK?. I get this error regardless of the min protocol level (NT1 or SMB2) on the server. In short, are we doomed to stay with the unsafe Windows share connections, or is there another way to migrate from Windows to Linux? Maybe running an ancien...

how to count the network flow of samba in linux server
...r is ranged when a client connect to it. so I first need to get the port and then add iptables rule in real time when a new client connect the server. if so,the iptables rules become much, and when a packet come in or get out ,it will match hunderds of rules first, the stability of the server looks bleak. So,can you give me some advices about this? Thanks so much. hnuzhoulin at gmail.com

Your assessment of Mini-OS''s C library support is too bleak. In an effort to ease the task of writing applications that run in Mini-OS, I ported a Lua interpreter to it <http://www.lua.org>. The standard Lua interpreter is patched so that it does not use floating point operations, and then linked against the newlib C library <http://sources.redha...

sieve redirect action
Hello Stephan, First of all, thank you for dovecot-sieve implementation. I see that you are adding X-Sieve header to all outgoing e-mail in cmd-redirect.c /* Prepend sieve version header (should not affect signatures) */ rfc2822_header_field_write(f, "X-Sieve", SIEVE_IMPLEMENTATION); How do you look at adding one more header, for example X-Sieve-Forward-From: Now, when redirect

ReiserFS - status?
Hi All. What is the status of ReiserFS in CentOS at the moment? I have some servers which use it as a loadable kernel module. I am thinking about a filesystem for database systems and would like to know if ReiserFS will be maintained in CentOS/Linux kernel in the future? Best regards, Rafal.

shorewall with two internets
My company has been living off of a relatively slow DSL connection for the last few months. We still need this connection for the static IP''s, but have recently added a cable subscription to bump up the speed (we''re too far from the CO to increase our DSL speed). I''ve been messing with shorewall for awhile, but can''t for the life of me figure out how to

Help in ARIMA
I am working on a data set which has the waiting times taken of jobs running on a cluster. I need to come up with a method to use this historical data to come up with a prediction for the future. Even probably try simulating the full history (as in I have history of the job submission time and running time, etc). So I can run through the actual history and at every job submission, depending on the

[LLVMdev] PROPOSAL: IR representation of detailed struct assignment information (new version)
...he code to use the packed mode anyways. My theory is that there are too many ABIs in the world (and too weird rules within them) for us to ever really get this right at the LLVM layer. Instead, we should force the frontend to explicitly layout the bytes as it sees fit. The current situation is not bleak. ABIs don't often vary that much in the way they lay out structs and arrays, especially within a given architecture. I actually think it's kind of nice that LLVM has this native concept of "normal" struct layout built in. It encourages people to avoid doing their own custom struc...
