CentOS 7, ctrl-alt-bksp
I've been googling, and looking at the CentOS wiki - which, btw, when I do a full search on "control-alt-backspace", gives me three pages... in Japanese, I think. How do I re-enable userspace restart X? mark

no BkSp in plan9, ubuntu root fs failure, and what''s up with bsd?
In usual fashion, I have a few questions: 1) I can''t get the virtual terminal of plan9 to recognize either my Backspace or Delete key. This is particularly annoying; can anyone help? 2) I''ve got two linux root fs images that I created through dd: one for rubix and another for ubuntu. Rubix works brilliantly, but Ubuntu gets a kernel panic during boot. The two both mount have

question about mouse and kvm switch
Greetings all: I have a CentOS 3.6 and 4.3 box sharing a kvm switch. Switching from the 4.3 box to the 3.6 and back again, the mouse stops responding. The keyboard works just fine, and I can ssh into the box. I have tried <ctl><alt><bksp> and while it does restart the x server, it doesn't seem to affect the mouse. Is there something I can run to get the mouse recognized again short of restarting the computer? thanks markus __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Severe issues with the latest 6.5 desktop
...ut every day, suddenly the toolbar on the bottom vanishes, as does my desktop wallpaper, the background goes black, and dmesg is showing me: plasma-desktop[22021]: segfault at 11 ip 00000034820ffd02 sp 00007fffa6a0b000 error 4 in libplasma.so.3.0.0[3482000000+218000] over and over. I <ctrl-alt-bksp>, it kills X, and I startx again, and I'm good... well, unless it does it to me again. Happened several times last evening. Any ideas, folks? mark

netbook screen suddenly goes black
...nstalled, but I never pursued it. What happens is that suddenly while working away on the desktop the display suddenly goes black... not black as in turned off, I can see that the backlight is still on, but no image is displayed. Nothing I can do fixes it except a reboot. I've tried CTRL-ALT-BKSP, CTRL-ALT-DEL, alt+printscreen+r+e+i+s+u+b. none of them do anything noticeable. I've been looking at system logs and don't find anything that gives me a clue what is going wrong when that happens. neither dmesg, /var/log/Xorg*, nor /var/log/messages contins much. I've tried digging t...

How to disable screen locking system-wide?
By default, CentOS v5 requires a user's password when the system wakes up from the screensaver. This can be disabled by each user, but how can I disable this system-wide? Many of my users forget to do this, which results in workstations being locked up. Bob

Steam games crash during gameplay
...nd the game doesn't have control of my mouse - when my computer locks up, I can still move my mouse cursor around and hear the video, but the screen is still frozen (except for mouse cursor) and I get to hear that slice of in-game sound repeated over and over. When it's locked up, Ctrl+Alt+Bksp does not work, and the only way to escape the situation is a hard shutdown by holding the power button down. One more thing, with CS:CZ, I usually get to play for a couple minutes on my own server, whereas I might get one or two seconds on an internet server before my computer locks up.
