New release RubyStack for Windows / includes git
...and Mac and instead of a ZIP file, it is a binary installer, so it takes a couple of extra steps to get running. In addition to Apache, MySQL, this release includes git and a number of new gems in Windows. The Linux and OS X stacks include nginx as well. You can see the announcement at: http://bitnami.org/article/new-rubystack-released Please let us know what you think, what we can improve, and feel free to ask us any questions you may have. We have learned a lot from InstantRails, so if we can help you in any way we will be happy to do so Best regards Daniel

Error running server: Exec format error - packet_worker_runner
Hi All, I''ve been developing a rails app using the Bitnami RailsStack ( http://bitnami.org/stack/rubystack) and it has always worked as advertised. That is until I have tried to get BackgrounDRB up and running. I have followed the steps given on the plugin''s project page, each seems to work. I the plugin install works, I can generate workers etc,...

Installing on CentOS
Hi, I''m trying to install RedCloth on CentOS. It came with ruby 1.8.5 pre-installed so I installed rubygems-1.2.0 since that seemed compatible (later versions require ruby 1.8.6). All looks good but when I try: [root at dev4 rubygems-1.2.0]# gem install RedCloth ERROR: could not find gem RedCloth locally or in a repository Can anyone tell me what I''m missing? Do I need to

[OT] would any of you recommend a ticketing system?
Hi all, sorry for being OT but would any of you recommend a ticketing system? We'd like something pretty comprehensive to cover helpdesk and HR stuff as well as software bugs/requests. There seems to be a million variations out there.

My Development Environment is WAY too slow (blame Vista)
I''ve broken away -- partially at least -- from the dark side. I''m a long-time MS dev. I heard about Ruby and RR from Scott Hanselman (http://www.hanselman.com/blog/). He''s a great blogger on things in the MS world but he''s always provided a broader perspective. And he found great beauty in Ruby and RR and said as much. I had the opportunity to try out

I downloaded rails-2.3.2.zip. How do I install it?
I''ve installed Ruby using the one-click installer for Windows. As said, I downloaded the zip package for RoR and unzipped it to my local hard disk. There is no main install.rb for RoR, but there is one install.rb for Actionmailer, Actionpack, Activerecord, ActiveResource, Activesupport. How to I install RoR then? Should I install each module separately by running ''ruby

Rails development without an open port?
I wish to port an old web app over to Rails but I''m running into "political" issues. The host of the server I have access to refuses to open a port for me claiming that an error in a Rails application could bring down the server. Is there any way to do Rails development without having an open port? Please let me know if clarification is needed here. Thanks! -- Posted via

Newbie Trouble with RubyOnRails Bible
.../console Loading development environment <this works fine> my_contact = Contact.new <here''s the problem: instead of showing me the attributes of the instance, I get the message: ActiveRecord::StatementInvalid: Could not find table ''contacts'' from c:\program files\BitNami RubyStack/ruby/lib/ruby/gems... etc.... and many other error messages too. Ohhh! I just noticed that another of the error messages indicates that it is looking for a sqlite3_adapter.rb:29. Hmmm. How do I tell it that I''m using mySQL not sqlite? RoR failure
I am a newbie at RoR and am disappointed by the fact that I couldn''t install it in my Ubuntu 10.10 using an IDE. I tried NetBeans 6.9.1, Eclipse 3.6.2, Aptana Studio and its plugin for Eclipse and RubyMine. There was always a problem somewhere (rails, rubygems, rake, etc) preventing me from working with my project. I currently have Netbeans 6.9.1 bundled with java jdk 1.6.0. I''ve

Windows new installation - Always problems
I would like to know if there is a way to ''package'' an application with all the associated gems and ship it to a new server and having it to "just work" in a Windows environment. Although I have never done it I know that Rails can be frozen into the application. I am wondering if I can do the same thing with other gems. I have found this
