VMWare vs. Xen, is the conflict by VMware deliberate?
...ercial reasons is much, much
more recent, and I suspect the Xen Dom0 performance for managing backup
systems is superior.)
So, I tried running VMWare Workstation on top of a Xen enabled Dom0. And
VMWare promptly started up with a "You''re running a Xen Hypervisor! Bad
sys-geek, no biscuit! We''re taking our start-up tool and going home,
p-b-b-b-b-b-b-t-h!"
Is this a well-founded refusal to start on their part, perhaps due to
kernel behavior conflicts? Or is this an anti-competitive move, to avoid
being able to run VMware Workstation on Xen Dom0''s and force...

Wierd cursor jump when I type letter "y"
Guys. I have this problem for a long time.
In large number of times when I type letter "y", like in "you" my typing
cursor jumps 2-3 rows up or 1-2 words to the left.
I am unable to understand why. Could it be something with lap-top
keyboard? Typing rate?
CentOS 5.5 Gnome, I mostly use Firefox and Thunderbird.

Problem with opening Excel spreadsheets that client cannot write to
...ons are set such that some users can write to these and some cannot,
but they can all read them (the world-readable bit is set).
When a user with read/write access tries to open the spreadsheet, there is no
problem. The user is happy and productive and outside the sun is shining.
Excellent! Have a biscuit!
When a user with only read permission tries to open the spreadsheet, however,
Excel fails to open it, saying that it cannot find the file. Auditing the
actions taken on the Samba server shows that Excel actually opens the file
several times in read-only mode, then tries to open it in read-write m...

3ware 9650SE success
I had posted a question recently on this list regarding the new series of
cards from 3ware, and wanted to follow up with some real-world results.
My test motherboard was an Intel D945GTPLKR (a desktop board). I was able to
use the motherboard video and plug the 3ware card into the PCIe x16 slot. The
card I was testing with (16ML) is a PCIe x8 card. Hardware-wise, everything
worked without

Ajax Tabs
hi railers,
I have a model/view/controller with many associations (20+). I would like to
display the relative associations using AJAX, allowing the user to display
the association his/her is interesting at a particular time. Is here any
kind ajax tabs helper or some kind of tab widgets that I can easily
incorporate into my rails application.
regards,
leon

incorrect multiple outputs
HI,
I'm having trouble with a piece of Rscript which keeps outputting
incorrectly. it's something like this: the code reads in from a file which
contains (reformated) input
>file<-read.table(file="input_file.txt",sep="\t")[,c(1,3:5)]
>
>file.rows<- c(nrow(file)/288) # "input_file.txt" contains 288 reformatted
lines for each original data file

Time/clock issues with Xen 3.0.3?
The time appears to be perfect inside dom0, however all the domU''s
tend to have a slightly faster date which gets further out of sync
every day.
I''m currently using Xen 3.0.3 with Gentoo Linux, under 3.0.2 I had no
problems with domU clocks. Are there any known issues which could
cause this? I''d strongly prefer not to run ntpd in every domU,
having all domU clocks in
