Biometrics fingerprint scanner in RoR? Is it possible? and how?
I''m a graduating student of IT right now and in a couple of months, we''ll
be starting on a new project in the University. My group and I decided to
create a voting system which requires Fingerprint scanner to identify the
voters and make the voting process more secured. I still don''t know how
biometrics fingerprint scanner works exactly and I''ve just started

install RMySQL under Mac OS X 10.4.7
Hello All,
I tried to install RMySQL package, but the error
messages says there is no such package, even though I
did see RMySQL is there in the contributed package
list in all mirror sites of CRAN I tried. Not sure
what is the problem.

biometric device or smartcard with Samba 4.x
Hi all,
I was just wondering if any of you are using biometric devices (eg: a
fingerprint reader) or smartcards with Samba4 for network logon.
Either as a replacement for a password or 'extra' as a 2nd factor.
Would be interested in hearing experiences regarding this.
Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Bram.

biometrics in samba 4
Hello Lads,
I am not a programmer in any shape or form, so bare with me.
Windows AD can support biometric devices, such as fingerprint logins, it
actually stores the fingerprint in the database.
Will it be possible to store this information in a Samba4 AD enviroment?
Cheers,
Adrian Sender.

ROC for threshold value, biometrics
Hello,
I am just a beginner of R 1.9.0.
I try to construct a predictive score for the development of liver
cancer in cirrhotic patients. So dependant variable is binanry (cancer
yes or no). Independant variables are biological data. The aim is to
find out a cut-off value which differentiate (theoratically) from
normal to pathological state for each biological data.
How can I step in procedue to

Hi Team,
We (Otsuka IT team) are planning to upgrade JAVA 8 to Biometrics department servers. On account of this, we want to make sure R Ver.2.7.2 is working fine in JAVA 8?
Please let us know if R Ver.2.7.2 is compatible with JAVA 8?

getConnection is not found in R depending on the Linux flavour (RedHat or Debian) - dyn.load problems
Hello R developers,
I am working on the "seqinr" package and I encounter a tricky problem
using a C
function.
We defined a C fonction called "getzlibsock" which is dedicated to
compressed
socket connections. This function is using the R internal C function
called "getConnection(int)" in order to get information about the socket

Q about strsplit and regexp
Dear R-help,
This one is probably a piece of cake for regexp masters. I'd like to split
a character vector (for simplicity, say of length one for now) that contains
fields that are delimited by arbitrary number of white spaces (e.g., " a b
c "). How do I get the character vector that contain the fields? In the
example I gave, I've tried:
> strsplit(" a b c

ggplot2: Choosing colours
Dear useRs,
I'm trying to specify the colour of a factor with ggplot2. The example
below gets me close to what I want, but it's missing a legend.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Thierry
library(ggplot2)
dataset <- data.frame(x = rnorm(40), y = runif(40), z = gl(4, 10, labels
= LETTERS[1:4]))
ggplot(data = dataset, aes(x = x, y = y, group = z)) + geom_point(colour

Warning message when items of Hmisc are masked by loading a package.
I've noticed that I get a warning message every time a package masks
some functions from Hmisc. The warning message says :
Warning message:
In identical(get(., i), get(., lib.pos)) : ignoring non-pairlist attributes
This happens with eg:
library(plyr)
library(xtable)
I think I've seen this passing by before, but I'm not sure any more.
Just thought I'd mention it.
Cheers

R2HTML problem
Im developing an application with R and Gtk+. It's just a simple GUI which
helps new users to interactuate with R. Thing is, when you do a statistical
analysis, I also want to provide a HTML report, but HTMLStart doesnt work
propperly when executing from TinnR. It does create the file but not empty,
I've tried some examples from different websites, and it's always the same..
it works
