First of all: the perl-bindings dont allow the QueryParser a third
argument when calling parse_query! So i cannot set a default prefix
(which perhaps is the solution to my problem, but later more)
i have a simple testcase:
3 documents, every document only has one word:
bike
fahrrad (german bike singular)
fahrraeder (german bike plural, umlaut replaced)
i have build the database with one synonym: Zfahrrad = Zbik
When i insert the documents, i printed the termlist:

umlauts in a plot label in X11
After I have found out that I have to tell ess-mode in emacs to use an
iso-latin<n> encoding scheme to communicate with the R subprocess,
including umlauts in labels works, at least for writing to postscript.
Only the X11-display still makes trouble: It uses a font that has some
russian characters in the position of the umlauts in latin-1/9.
Is there a way to tell R to use a font that

Does anyone know of example r-code/packages for carrying out analysis?
Preferably this would have examples from real experimental data of two or

Mystery!!!
I am executing the following loops in R 15.1.0 and the first one works and
produces results. However, the second one is not with initiating the object
as x[i]. Further, I was able to get the second loop work in R 15.0. Am I
missing something here?

print(y[i])

BRugs crash, question
(Using BRugs 0.7-5, R 2.14.2 32-bit on 64-bit Windows 7, OpenBUGS 3.2.1)
1. BRugs crashes R for me as follows. Sorry about the lack of detail; please let
me know if / how to supply a more useful bug report on this issue.
fit <- BRugsFit(...)
# BRugs and OpenBUGS runs fine, the parameter estimates are reasonable

a small question about R with Winbugs
I try to do a test for dirichlet process for Multivariate normal, but Winbugs
always says "expected multivariate node", does that mean I miss something at
initialization? I will really appreciate the help to solve this problem
Here is the R code, and Winbugs code.

y[i,1:2] ~ dmnorm(mu[i,],tau[i,,])

how to override hostname
I am trying to test stand alone puppet manifests invoking /usr/bin/
puppet.
Is there a way to override current hostname with some other value?
I have tried with no success:
FACTER_hostname=foo /usr/bin/puppet manifest.pp

histogram-like barplot? (or reverse?)
Hi,
I have a simple task I can't figure out. I'd like to take
some measurements I made, e.g.:

counts (x-axis)

20
30

And then, make a barplot with the x-axis ticks (representing
the borders between years) between the bars.
However, barplot seems to force you to make the x-axis
arbitrary categories. I want it to be continuous (as in a

Z score
Hi,
I need to find the z-score of the data present in a speardsheet. The values
needs to be calculated for each gene across the samples (refer the
example). And, it should be a simple thing, but I am unable to do it right
now !
The example re the structure of the spreadsheet is -

correct. ztcfg doesn't complain about anything, yet all I ever get is RED

ZAPtel channel dance
Zaptel installs an /etc/modprobe.d/zaptel and an
/etc/{defaults,sysconfig}/zaptel that list the modules in a different
order, so If you happen to have a TDM2400P and a TDM[124]xxP, all channels
change their numbers if you do a /etc/initd/zaptel restart. This is
slightly confusing. (I'd file a bug if there were a bug tracking system
that allowed users to submit bugs).
Yours, Florian
