config question for proxyarp hosts?
...t?
Using private IP addresses and full NAT worked for a long while when we
only had a few hosts on a single DMZ, but the network''s grown in
complexity by a frightening amount, and I simply have to find a better
solution...
Thanks in advance,
Gregory

veto dotfiles but not directory?
...me effect as /.*/ did, and
things like the command prompt or Word were unable to access the share,
due to not getting information for "." (mapped as H:\).
Is there a way to do what I want, or do i have to give up the "veto
files" idea?
many thanks.

No idea what lives under /var/puppet - filebucket, logs, pidfiles, state

poke around under /var/puppet.

Big Brother with Shorewall loc dmz zones?
How would I use Big Brother with Shorewall and my loc and dmz zones to
monitor hosts in both zones?
If Big Brother''s server is on my LAN (loc) is it "safe" to forward the bb
port from the dmz to the LAN? What would the security risks of this be?
Common sense says that it may not be a good idea to forward stuff from the
dmz to the LAN, but I''m inexperienced and unsure

Can a guest LDOM discover the identity of the host system?
...t should only be report its parent. Come to
think of it, this facility could even be applicable to dynamic domains,
although less important there, since AFAIK there''s no mechanism
for moving them from one frame to another.
In a support situation, we may have monitoring software
(perhaps BigBrother or Hobbit, or something more; but those
are extensible and more or less open). Even if a monitored
system is down, the monitoring history can still be seen.
If a client could report where it was running, and had problems,
that would simplify investigating whether the host was having
problems, how...

routing via uplink based on source lan?

and rules, as well as the actual commands generated by the script (since a
lot of it depends on the live state of the machine) can be furnished upon

* Call Monitoring
I've got a nagios plugin making sure the * box is up, but I would like
to do more than that.
I need to make sure the PRIs connected to my box stay up and I need to
make sure calls are not failing for any reason. Are there any *
monitoring packages like this?

Nagios and Asterisk
Does anyone have some decent Nagios scripts out there that do more than
monitor the proc itself? Rather than reinvite the wheel, figured I'd
ask. I already saw the one on the wiki.

all.equal.list() sometimes fails with unnamed and named components (PR#674)
examples:
1) Fails to report that components 2 and 3 differ
all.equal(list(1,2,3,zap=1),list(1,3,4,zap=2))
[1] "Component zap: Mean relative difference: 1
2) Incorrectly asserts all are equal when components 2 and 3 differ
> all.equal(list(1,2,3,zap=1),list(1,3,4,zap=1))
[1] TRUE
3) Removing named component reveals differences:
> all.equal(list(1,2,3,1),list(1,3,4,1))

Complex Routing/Firewalling/Bridging question
...bridging to the DMZs, the NAT for
the LAN->Internet communications and all the internal routing?
And where the hell does BGP for the T-1s fit into this mess?
I guess I''m more lost than I thought. :(
Any help or advice is appreciated.
TIA,
