graphs superimposed on pictures?
...I can produce the plots fine in R, but so far I have had to do the superimposition externally, which makes it tedious to do exploratory work. I have looked to see if there is some capability to put a background picture on a plot window, but I have not found anything. Advice, anyone? Cheers Robert Biddle

Interpretation of EXACT Statistical Test in finding the probability as Std. Deviations (SumP)
Okay, so I'm fairly retarded, and asked a question about finding the T-Value in the Fisher Exact method. I suppose what I'm truly after can best be explained by the Biddle Consulting site that has a program setup to deal with this kind of thing. Unfortunately, it is not currently functioning, and has not been for some time. As a result, I'm trying to figure out how to do this on my own. What I'm after is the "Probability as Std. Deviations (SumP)&quo...

Traffic Shaping
Dear List, I am wanting to perform some traffic shaping as the subject of this email suggests. What I am wanting to do is this; I would like to have traffic shaping performed on the following protocols: HTTP, RDP, GRE, PPTP, SIP and IAX. Obviously I would like to have highest priority set for voice packets so much so that the general http traffic does not impede on the voice packets. I

R Style Guides?
...w object-oriented programming does or might work. But I am not looking for more explanations of the detail mechanisms. What I want is documented advice on how to use these mechanisms for laying out larger programs, with rationale, and preferably with examples. Suggestions, please? Thanks Robert Biddle

...h Windows on Mac, requiring extra software that it was itself unclear how to install. Is there some simpler solution I should be looking at? Are jpeg files so probematic I should be converting them to some other format and using a different package to read that? Thanks Robert Biddle

Using Hiera with Parameters set for the Puppet Node
Is it possible to have Hiera look at a key set for the node first, before looking at other items in the hierarchy? In particular - I''m using Puppet Dashboard and am setting keys & params for there, so I would like for any value set there for a node to be used over another item in the hiera hierachy. What value would I have to specify in the hierarchy for this, if it is possible?

Dead Gateway Detection & BGP
Greetings to all, To start I’ll firstly lay down the foundation to what I have done so far and if those of you on the list can provide further insight, tips, links etc. This scenario consists of 2 firewalls (both running Debian “etch”), 2 Cisco routers (unsure of model numbers) connected together like so in the diagram below. ----------------------- | Uplink Provider |

VPN Solution
Greetings List Members, I''ll firstly apologise if this isn''t the place that I should be posting this message but here goes. What I want to do is have a VPN (PPTP/IPSEC/CIPE/etc) server, but it must support more than one simultaneous connection. I currently have a PPTP VPN server setup that has port 1723 and protocol 47 DNAT''d through to the internal IP

Similarly, if I find J of marks X and Y, and X and Z, how could I determine the liklihood that Y and Z come from different processes? I would appreciate advice. Cheers Robert Biddle

SIP, NAT, and load balancing problems
Hello all, I have a linux machine with a SIP server (Asterisk) and 2 WAN interfaces (NATed) configured to do load balancing. I experienced problems with the SIP/RTP protocols and load balancing, because when initiating a call to an external SIP Host, a new RTP flow starts from the server to the Host, that sometimes uses another default route (due to the nexthop configuration). As i have two

routing TCP to another box preserving ORIGINAL client IPs
My TCP clients connect to box A. I need to forward those connections to a server on box B, such that the original client IPs are visible to the server on B. Each box has two Ethernet ports. One port on each box is connected to WAN, and they are cross-connected in a LAN via remaining ports: ------------------- ------------------- WAN -- |eth0 Box A eth1|---LAN---|eth1 Box

R for Mac OS X Search in Help
Hi: A small query about R for Mac on OSX: when looking at the help system screens, it does not seem to be possible to search within them. For example, when looking at a long help page (e.g. for par) I often want to search for a particular parameter. But I don't see how. I just have to scroll and search by eye. Is there a better way? Thanks Robt
