When I attempted to "rpm -i samba3-3.0.0-1.1mdk.src.rpm" this morning on my Mandrake 9.2 box, I got an unusual message that doesn't make sense. It said, over and over (thirteen times total): WARNING: user bgmilne does not exist - using root When it went back to root prompt, I did an "updatedb", but nothing for "samba-3" is found when I did the urpmi request. I am attempting to integrate a Linux Samba Server with an NT 4.0 PDC. Ideally I am looking to authenticate the users on the PDC, and then permit access to the Samba Shares on the Linux Box. Have any of you folks actually managed to get pam_mount working? A quick google shows a ton of messages saying "you can use pam_mount" to automatically mount a user's home directory on log in, but no messages saying "I use pam_mount" etc -- I'm suspecting it might not actually work. I've got a Samba box (2.2.5a) as a member of a Samba domain. Both the PDC and client are running 2.4.18 with XFS and ACLs compiled in. Problem: on the client, I can -NOT- modify the ACLs for files from Windows. (Note that I can modify the stock Unix permissions, but not the extended users/permissions that ACL support offers.) It has to do with usernames and what allowable characters in it for security. Now, I need to fix this, does anybody have a patch/fix or tell me where to look in the source to try and fix this.
