multi channels & documentation
hi i'm looking for information about the multichannel spec. of vorbis. 1/ the documentation specifies that 256 channels are available ( -c 256) ... it sounds very well but how may i specify the original files ??? (i haven't 256 physical entries on my soundcard ... arffff) so is there a way to declare something like oggenc file1.wav file2.wav file3.wav -c3 final.ogg ??? 2/ panoramics are

Does Ogg Vorbis support 5.1 surround?
Hello everyone! Please bear with me, I am a complete audio-newbie, and I apologise if I am asking a question that I should know. As most of you all know, DVD's have 5.1 audio, and I want to preserve that in my voribs files. So, to ask the question : Does it support Surround sound? Thank you very much!

rehuff [source attached]
Hi all, Yes, it's true. A new version of rehuff, the tool that losslessly compresses Vorbis files: one that is easy to compile, and that works with newer-than-two-years-ago streams, too! On 1.0 streams, you get about 3% size reduction, and the headers get _much_ smaller (which helps for fast-start network streams). Building it should be easy (you might have to add some -I and -L for

5.1 encoding?
Hi, I'm new to Vorbis and I need a little help understanding if 5.1 compression is actually supported. I've been trying to create a 5.1 file from either a vob or ac3 stream without much success. That is, BeSweet usually complains that the source has to be sampled at 48000Hz (it is) and just won't do it, so I've munged the command line until I got a 5.1 .ogg but only the normal stereo channels were in (that is - front left and front right had sound, everything else was quiet). I've also trie...

AVI stream w/ AC3 5.1ch
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I have an AVI file (~900MB) that I want to convert to OGM format, with a ~ DivX 5 video and uncompressed AC3 (5.1ch) audio stream. Nandub doesn't want to compress the audio, so I was wondering if anyone could recommend a (Windows) tool to help. Thanks for your time! -Chris - -- "Everyone has to find their own reason." ~ -Cloud,

5.1 streams into ogg.vorbis
Hallo, I'd like to get all channels of an ac3 5.1 stream coded into vorbis. With sox and oggenc it doesn't seem to work. Does anyone know a tool that can do this under linux? The ac3 stream is also avialabe as wav6 file converted by the cvs version of a52dec. This wav6 file contains one stereo stream and 3 mono streams. Is there a convention which stream number in an ogg file means

Vorbis in DivX
Hello all Could you please tell me if and how Vorbis is used for the audio in DivX? Is it still encapsulated within ogg container format in DivX or does DivX contain raw Vorbis encoded packets? Any clues or pointers would be helpful. Thanks & regards ~previr

How is 6 channels coupling made?
Hello all, I'm using the directshow filters by Tobias. Yes I know they are not supported here :) The vorbis encoder (I really mean encoder, not decoder) by tobias works good in 2 channels mode, but with 6 channels it exchanges the order of channels while encoding. The front center goes to the front right, and the like. I have reported the problem, but Tobias gives no signs of life. I want to

5.1ch decoding question
Hi. I've some question about audio-stream of OGM. I know some encoding tools, such as headac3he or BeSweet, can encode 5.1ch AC3 files into 5.1ch vorbis files, but I couldn't find any decoding tools which can decode 5.1ch vorbis files properly. Current Tobias's Ogg Direct Show filter 0.9.9.1 (and its libraries) doesn't support decoding 5.1ch vorbis, right? And if so, how can I decode them p...

bitrate limits don't work with -q settings?
I'm sorry if this question has been asked before; I've looked through the archives and haven't seen anything. The problem I'm seeing is that oggenc's VBR encoding doesn't seem to pay attention to any sort of bitrate limitation, either the -m or bitrate_hard_min settings. It isn't that it temporarily dips below the minimum; the average for the whole (in this case,
