Heteroskedasticity in Tobit models
Hello, I've had no luck finding an R package that has the ability to estimate a Tobit model allowing for heteroskedasticity (multiplicative, for example). Am I missing something in survReg? Is there another package that I'm unaware of? Is there an add-on package that will test for heteroskedasticity? Thanks for your help. Cheers, Alan Spearot -- Alan Spearot Department of Economics

testing the significance of the variance components using lme
Hi R-users, I am using lme to fit a linear mixed model with the nlme package, does anyone know if it is possible to obtain standard error estimates of the variance components estimators and an adequate method to test the significance of the variance component? Thanks, Berta. [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

conversion of LL coordenates to UTM problems (ED50-WGS84 format)
...n the polygon region, points seem to be badly located. I suspect it is due to the ED50 UTM of the polygon versus WGS84 coordenates of the points. If this is the problem, is there a way to convert them into the same format? It it is not the problem, what am I doing wrong? Thanks a lot in advance. Berta. [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Tried out Beryl (Animation pugin)
Hi I just tried out the new 0.1.0 release of beryl. Generally I do like the compiz fdo version, because I like the gconf integration and the metacity theme support in gwd. Also I think their configuration system is a complete mess, this beryl settings manager is completly bloated in my opinion. Anyway, I noticed they have quite a lot of plugins. While I found most of them nothing special, the

pid-provider sees ld.so.1 only
I''m trying to do some userspace tracing on a server-process with the pid provider. My problem is, that the only probes the pid-provider lists for the server-process (to which I attach dtrace with "-p nnnn") are coming from "ld.so.1". There''s not a single one from my modules. If I''m specifying "a.out" (or any of our shared-objects) as the
