newby problem - concatenate lists
Hi,
a very basic question:
What ist the easiest way in R to concatenate two lists of vectors?
E.g, I have
x<-list(c(1,2))
y<-list(c(3,4))
and I want to receive
list(c(1,2),c(3,4))
thank you!
Axel

Did the logs provide any hints as to what the issue may be?

This feature seems to be a basic bug:

[1] TRUE

[1] TRUE
isn't it necessary to distinguish beteen numbers and characters??

performance question
Hi,
I am about to write functions for multivariate kernel densitiy estimation
with mixed categorical and continuous date (accoring to Jeff Racine and Qi
Li), and the leave-one-out window esitmation needs a lot of computation.
I am now optimizing the code performance and therefore fhe following
questions:
As R uses call-by-value for functions, is it computational expensive to pass
large matrices

Hello,
I guess many people will answer me again that this is a S language feature, but
I am only a stupid computer scientist and I simply do not understand this logic,

Can't run Mercedes Benz Star Service Manual Library CD
I'm mainly a noobie to Wine.
I've got Wine installed in Ubuntu 9.04 via Synaptic
The viewer.exe won't run directly as it's supposed to
I've managed to get WHIP4 to start the installation process but it comes to a point and gives the message"Cannot detect Netscape or Microsoft Internet Explorer on your machine. You must use DWF files with OLE compliant tools like

ogg123 and plugger
Hi. I'm trying to get plugger to work with ogg123 and it does - sort of.
No matter what the song is, it plays 24 seconds of the song and then
dies. Same spot every time - I've tried with a short song (Janis Joplin
Mercedes Benz) and a long song (Cracker Eurotrash Girl).
I have this as the mime identification in the plugger rc file:

Merb, Mongrel+Erb
Hey there folks-
I''m happy to announce the first useable release of my new pocket-
framework Merb. Merb is a mongrel handler with built in controller
and view templating with erb. It has a nice routing system similar to
rails but much simpler. It uses some of the code from the camping
handler and the rails handler and then some of its own secret sauce
to form imho a nice fast

round.Date and trunc.Date not working / implemented
Technically, there is a round() for 'Date' objects, but it doesn't
seem very useful, because it basically just fall back to the default
round() method, which only takes the 'digits' argument.
Here's an example:
> date <- Sys.Date()
> class(date)
[1] "Date"
We see that there are only two round() methods in addition to the
implicit built-in one;

data corruption with ms-office files on samba 2.2.3a
Hi,
sometimes a ms-office file (ms word 2k, ms excel 2k) will be destroyed,
when the client writes it to the server. The strange thing is, that samba
writes parts of its log-files at the top and bottom of the file. Here are
the first 2 lines of the destroyed file:
[2002/09/04 17:03:05, 2] smbd/open.c:open_file(216)
tb opened file xxx/xx/xx/xxxx/xx xx/filename_TB.doc read=Yes write=Yes

round.Date and trunc.Date not working / implemented
This is a workaround, and could be the basis for a round.Date improvement:
date <- Sys.Date()
as.Date(round(as.POSIXct(date), "years"))
as.Date(round(as.POSIXct(Sys.Date() + 180), "years"))

correspondence analysis
Hello,
I'm trying to do some correspondence analyis, with R, of course (by
correspondence analysis, I'm refering to JP Benz?cri's methods, in case
there might be some other thing with a similar name)
I've found a couple of tools refering to C.A in the existing packages :
ca() in package multiv and corresp()/mca() in MASS. MASS tools look more
