ownership of pid directory
...n, so I changed ups.conf and
upsmon.conf accordingly and tried changing the ownership of everything to
uucp.
upsdrvctl still complains that it "Can't chdir to /var/db/nut: Permission denied"
The directory exists and is owned by both user and group uucp. What does it
want?

has anybody gotten horde working?
...n't reset session data, and Jan Schneider, the horde
developer, I think, insisting that it must. He seems to have his own
idea about how things should work--and I'm beginning to wonder if it
actually does.
Has anybody gotten this working?
By the way, this is CentOS 6.5.
Thanks!

need simpler directions on user authentication

complaining about.
The documentation is driving me nuts. It keeps telling me about stuff I
think I don't need. And I can't tell what I actually *do* need. All I
want is for system users, including myself, to be able to get their mail.
How do I do this?
Thank you!

Using procmail to mark messages as read in dovecot
So, I use procmail extensively, and I have for a long time, but marking messages as 'read' in a Maildir has always been a little wonky:
TRAP='mv "$LASTFOLDER" "${LASTFOLDER}:2,S"'
Since I've switched to dovecot, is there a way to mark a message on delivery as read or not new or seen?

Hi all,
I'm migrating from one system to another. Both are Arch Linux, but
copying the configurations and just modifying them for IP addresses

Thanks, was Re: need simpler instructions for user authentication
Thanks to everyone who responded to my request. And I apologize that this
message isn't properly threaded.
I'm in trouble whenever I have to send mail from my gmail account because I
automatically pull it down into the same place from which I send my regular
mail (from benfell at parts-unknown.org ) and I haven't configured that to
deal with the gmail account. That makes it difficult to reply properly to
mail on this list which I have subscribed to with the gmail account so that
I'd actually receive it even when I'm having problems with my main mail
system....

Pipe into logger duplicates messages in /var/log/messages
I am trying to pipe the output from a process into syslog using the logger
command. Initially I pipe the output into a separate file, but as it
happens
this filled up the disk when things went wrong. So I figured I redirect the
output to syslog and let logrotate deal with the roll-over and archive
of the
file.
However the following command :
echo "HI" > logger -t test

Hi all,
Apologies if a duplicate message. I initially sent the following from
a non-subscribed email address (my usual address, but not the one that
works when I'm having trouble with mail).
First, I'm pretty sure I screwed up something with dovecot. The
symptom appears in both thunderbird and mutt.
I'm moving my server from a VPS to a
