...lick the W2000 computer icon I get the message "\\Linuxbox is not accessible, The network path was not found." The network is a small switched lan, sadly with only one unix box (RH7.3) and a mixture of Windows2000 and 98 machines. The domain name is that of our service provider "bellnet.ca", and the recently introduced Linux box is configured with the host /domain name pair "LinuxBox.bellnet.ca". Anyway, I can ping the either way, (from Windows to Linux and back again) but in order to do so, I must specify the IP addresses of the machines. I suspect the DNS resolut...

Win files from *nix?
How can I browse Windows from Unix? I'm using FreeBSD 4.7, Samba, and KDE3. I'd like to be able to browse also from command line. I have not found instructions on use of smbclient-win32 and do not want to use sharity. smbclien-win32 comes with and exe file and cygwin dll's - but what are you supposed to do with them, copy the dll's to system or system32 foler and just run the

incomprehesible quirk
I am really quite puzzled as to why I have to edit smb.conf every time I want to print to the FreeBSD machine from Win2K. (Running FBSD 4.7, samba 2.2.7 and cups 1.1.15.1_4. When I log onto FBSD with username, password, I see the folders for the printers, home, tmp, etc. but no printer. (Only 1 installed - Epson Stylus Color 900). I can access the shares on FBSD from Win2k, but there is no

Eaton Powerware 5110 - some stats not reported
Hi all, I've hooked up an Eaton Powerware 5110 to Ubuntu 13.10 server, and configured nut appropriately. The cgi scripts are working fine, but on upsstats.cgi, the Batter, UPS Temp and Battery Runtime fields are all blank - and there are no entries for these values in the 'All data' tree. I've checked the man page for bcmxcp_usb

Developing the UPS side of the UPS-NUT equation (via usbhid)
My company is developing a new UPS, with smarts provided by a PIC32 Microchip micro-controller. The controller comes with a demo for a USBHID-UPS, and after some tweaking, I was able to get NUT to recognize it and start showing some reasonable values. To make this UPS as easy to use as possible for the end-user who chooses Linux, I figured I would just completely implement the official USB HID
