File Descriptors
I installed Squid on CentOS 4.4 and currently it seems to run fine
even under the relatively heavy load of 6mbps and hundreds of users.
I was told I should increase the file descriptor limit which I beleive
is 1024 now. Any easy way to do that?

Tiger team.
Hi,
I''m back. :-)
Alex and a few others have expressed concerns about the legal
implications of forming a tiger team. Maybe the term "tiger team"
doesn''t officially represent what we meant. But I don''t mind
redefining established terms if I feel like it :-)
What we here call a "tiger team" is a team of people that try to beat
the bad guys to

Dovecot / Sieve
Hi,
As the "new Sieve implementation" is using a "gratefully stolen copy of
deliver.c from dovecot" (i.e. a dirty code in mail-raw.c), would it be
possible for the Sieve piece
1 - to be using files from dovecot directly rather than
copying&changing it (which is very bad for maintenance)
2 - to be incorporated in the hg/mercurial tree of dovecot ?
Thanks a lot

bug with subset and plot?
Hi!
I have the following problem that I beleive is a bug:
I have a dataframe with one categorical and one numerical vector. The
categorical vector has three levels (uc, up and vc). A plot of the
vectors with the categorical vector on the x-axis gives a boxplot with
three boxes - exactly as expected.
If I then use the subset function to make a dataset that only includes
two of the levels of

OggPCM: support for little-endianness only?

Fair enough. Since the ogg pages (which I beleive are 4k) need
to be unpacked anyway, there is little harm in having to
(possibly) do endswapping as well.

tinc from behind a NAT
I'm stuck behind a corporate NAT that I obviously have absolutely no
control over. The nice thing is that the firewall rules, AFAIK, are very
nice.
I've had tinc running before from behind nazi firewalls with no NAT.
Been fiddling with tinc for many hours, but have been SOL.
The local machine is the client (has ConnectTo in the conf), and remote
is the server (has Listen in the conf).

Sure, there are clients actually listeing too, but I do not
beleive that some are listening for hundreds of hours :)
What I would like is a 6 to 12 hours max connection

[LLVMdev] How to write a new backend?
Hello,
I'm considering a possibility of writing an llvm backend for my research uses.
Unfortunately, I can't find much information on how do to it. I more or less
understood now the C backend is implemented, but for real backend I'd need at
least register allocation. I beleive there's already register allocator in
LLVM and I would like to reuse it if possible.
The question is

switching from development to production?
I think I''m missing a step here, but they don''t seem to cover this in
the AWDWR book... does anybody know the various steps required to switch
from development to production mode in Rails? I''ve scoured the
application and changed everything that stands out, but the damn thing
is still running off the development database and won''t connect to the
production

play message to callee beforeconnecttoincomingcall
Thanks for the suggestion, C F, but the problem is there is a rather big
database application behind with many users, so a static configuration
is not suitable for my needs. i am working mostly with realtime and agi.

AU caller ID with Sipura SPA-3000
Hi All,
I am using a Sipura SPA-3000 as an FXO gateway to bring calls in and
out of Asterisk. I am using "PSTN Ring Thru Line 1" (on the "PSTN
Line" tab) so Asterisk answers the call rather than the SPA-3000. It
is all working perfectly except I can't get the SPA-3000 to pass
caller ID to Asterisk. It passes "Display Name", "User ID" and any

OT - C structure question
I hae tried searching the web for the answer, but, man is there a lot of
pages ... :(
in the language I develop in, if I have a structure I can dynamically
refer to the contents of a field of the structure like so:
MESSAGE SomeStructure:Field(SomeFieldName):Value
where SomeFieldName is either a quoted constant or a variable expressions
In "C", I beleive that you can refer to

Memory usage and limit
Hello everyone,
I recently made a 64-bit build of R-2.2.1 under Solaris 9 using gcc v.3.4.2.
The server has 12GB memory, 6 Sparc CPUs and plenty of swap space. I was the
only user at the time of the following experiment.
I wanted to benchmark R's capability to read large data files and used a
data set consisting of 2MM records with 65 variables in each row. All but 2
of the variables are of

Video Resolution
Hi
I've just installed Tachyon: The Fringe and it plays but the max
resolution that it detects is 1024x768.
My monitor is 1600x900. Is there some way of helping it detect the
full resolution?
I've tried running with a desktop, but no joy.
Wine version 1.7.46
Thanks

The debian dom0 64 bits kernel crashes at boot time
Hi,
I just wanted to give a bit of feedback here.
i have tried the Xen amd64 kernel from the kernel team and it just
crashes with a stack dump on my laptop (thinkpad t500, that is a quite
new stuff but will be a common thing very soon I beleive).
Then I have tried the kernel 2.6.27 from the Xen repository that you can
find here:

General path question
Hello all,
I am currently building my first RoR application. On the server side,
I have a web service that will fetch some data from a third party
provider and display it to the my user. I have a couple of question on
best practices.
I am using WSDL scanning which gives a lot of overhead a take couple
of seconds to accomplish. I have my class that will deal with all the

digikamimageplugins from Karan's repo
Hi,
I've just installed digikam and digikamimageplugins from Karan's repo.
The digikam package works nicely, however if I try to use any of the
plugins from digikamimageplugins, digikam crashes complaining about
unresolvable symbols, for example:
digikam: symbol lookup error:

Hi All;
My ISDN was working fine, and suddenly I start getting the below:

There is a Yellow Alarm, so what it could be the problem?

bchan=1-15,17-31
dchan=16
chan_dahi.conf
