File Descriptors
I installed Squid on CentOS 4.4 and currently it seems to run fine even under the relatively heavy load of 6mbps and hundreds of users. I was told I should increase the file descriptor limit which I beleive is 1024 now. Any easy way to do that? Matt

Tiger team.
Hi, I''m back. :-) Alex and a few others have expressed concerns about the legal implications of forming a tiger team. Maybe the term "tiger team" doesn''t officially represent what we meant. But I don''t mind redefining established terms if I feel like it :-) What we here call a "tiger team" is a team of people that try to beat the bad guys to

Dovecot / Sieve
Hi, As the "new Sieve implementation" is using a "gratefully stolen copy of deliver.c from dovecot" (i.e. a dirty code in mail-raw.c), would it be possible for the Sieve piece 1 - to be using files from dovecot directly rather than copying&changing it (which is very bad for maintenance) 2 - to be incorporated in the hg/mercurial tree of dovecot ? Thanks a lot

bug with subset and plot?
Hi! I have the following problem that I beleive is a bug: I have a dataframe with one categorical and one numerical vector. The categorical vector has three levels (uc, up and vc). A plot of the vectors with the categorical vector on the x-axis gives a boxplot with three boxes - exactly as expected. If I then use the subset function to mak...

OggPCM: support for little-endianness only?
Ian Malone wrote: > This is all well and good but OggPCM is in an Ogg transport > stream, so that needs to be unpacked anyway. Fair enough. Since the ogg pages (which I beleive are 4k) need to be unpacked anyway, there is little harm in having to (possibly) do endswapping as well. tinc from behind a NAT
...ery nice. I've had tinc running before from behind nazi firewalls with no NAT. Been fiddling with tinc for many hours, but have been SOL. The local machine is the client (has ConnectTo in the conf), and remote is the server (has Listen in the conf). Both have Port=8080 in their host files. I beleive all the configuration stuff is good. I see packets going out the local (behind nat) tr0 (yup, no ethernet here, just token ring) and going into the remote eth0. Tinc registers that the connection is alive and well in the logs, and reports reasonable packet count numbers when it exits. I beleive t...

Clients are filling up all my slots.....

Sure, there are clients actually listeing too, but I do not beleive that some are listening for hundreds of hours :) What I would like is a 6 to 12 hours max connection time pr. client. After that, they have to reconnect.... -- Ståle Lorentzen <p><p>--- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage: http://www.ice...

[LLVMdev] How to write a new backend?
Hello, I'm considering a possibility of writing an llvm backend for my research uses. Unfortunately, I can't find much information on how do to it. I more or less understood now the C backend is implemented, but for real backend I'd need at least register allocation. I beleive there's already register allocator in LLVM and I would like to reuse it if possible. The question is how? The REAME.txt in x86 directory does not tell that, and I see no other information. In general, what's the best way to write a backend? TIA, Volodya

switching from development to production?
I think I''m missing a step here, but they don''t seem to cover this in the AWDWR book... does anybody know the various steps required to switch from development to production mode in Rails? I''ve scoured the application and changed everything that stands out, but the damn thing is still running off the development database and won''t connect to the production

AU caller ID with Sipura SPA-3000

Memory usage and limit
...onsumed to read 300MB of data? Since almost all of the variables are character, I expected almost of 1-1 mapping between file size on disk and that in memory 2) Since this is a 64-bit build, I expected it could handle more than the 600MB of data I used. What does the error message mean? I don't beleive the vector length exceeded the theoretic limit of about 1 billion. 3) The original file was compressed and I had to uncompress it before the experiement. Is there a way to read compressed files directly in R Thanks so much for your help. Min [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

The debian dom0 64 bits kernel crashes at boot time
Hi, I just wanted to give a bit of feedback here. i have tried the Xen amd64 kernel from the kernel team and it just crashes with a stack dump on my laptop (thinkpad t500, that is a quite new stuff but will be a common thing very soon I beleive). Then I have tried the kernel 2.6.27 from the Xen repository that you can find here: http://xenbits.xensource.com/ext/linux-2.6.27-xen.hg It's booting and working quite well even though I didn't succeed yet to start a VM with a nic and a HDD (there's a hotplug error, maybe I should...

General path question
...I am using WSDL scanning which gives a lot of overhead a take couple of seconds to accomplish. I have my class that will deal with all the wweb service call in the model diectory. I called it postcode_anywhere_service.rb. My first question is: should it be a singleton (will that be scalable do you beleive?) I know this is somewhat a general question and would be happy to hear some advices. So I have this web_Service class defined in my model directory. In my controller (postcode_controller), I want to initialize postcode_anywhere_service.rb only once (per user? I am not sure which is best - shoul...

Is there digicamimageplugins-0.8.1 RPM for CentOS? If not, I could probably easilly rebuild my own. Just wondering if somebody already did it. Thanks, Alex
