X100P fails to initialize
So I took a chance with an X100P knock-off on eBay. I'm running Asterisk + FreePBX on a PowerMac G3 (beige desktop) using Slackintosh 10.2 and kernel 2.6.16.16. Everything has been fine up until now. I compile the 1.2.5 Zaptel drivers without a problem, get the udev configuration in, modprobe zaptel, and finally modprobe wcfxo. At this point, I get the message: ZT_CHANCONFIG failed on channel 1: No su...

...e four list boxes at the bottom of the dialog, the hot key does not work. For example, when I want the black background, I click the "Background" list box. Then I press the key 'B', expecting the focus to jump to the first item starting with 'B' (in this case it is "beige"). But it doesn't work. James [[alternate HTML version deleted]]

Can't run regression on G3 Mac
Hi, I'm new to R. I was wondering if anyone has an OS X native installation (not Carbon) of R on a G3 Macintosh that is able to run linear regression? I installed Jan de Leeuw's R binary for OS 10.2 Jaguar on my laptop, which is still a G3 model. When I try to run a simple regression, using lm, I get an "Illegal Instruction" message and R quits. Jan thinks it may be the case

Setting CDROM parms
...advance for asking such an elementary question. I called myself searching the Installation Guide and Deployment Guide, with no success. The situation is that I bought a Lite-On ATAPI iHAP122 that will not burn DVDs unless I use hdparm to turn dma off. I bought that drive because it was a rare beige drive. Until I can find a decent DVD burner and/or get a Windows machine put together strictly for doing BIOS updates, running with dma disabled seems to be the best solution. (hdparm -d0 /dev/hdb ) So, my question is, where should I script the command without having to become root each time...

filesystem becomming read only
Hi list, I'm looking for advice/help in tracking down a problem with a new system I've purchased. I have a beige box server with a Gigabyte GA-M51GM-S2G motherboard. It has the nVidia MCP51 SATA controller with 3 250 gig Western Digital hard drives attached to it. It seems that when doing a considerable amount of file writing, the filesystem will become read-only. See attached dmesg output. I started looki...

...ther to use its documented behavior. (Feel free to ignore this remark!) Anyway, >cumsum(!duplicated(dat1$B)) [1] 1 1 1 2 2 3 3 3 3 3 4 4 will do it. This is very efficient (almost certainly of no concern here, btw). But the price for this efficiency is that it depends completely on the data beig grouped in order as the OP showed. It will fail if this is not the case. If, for example, the data appeared as: > set.seed(1234) > ix <- sample(1:12) > dat1[ix,] N B 2 2 29_log 7 7 1_log 11 11 3_cat 6 6 1_log 10 10 1_log 5 5 27_cat 1 1 29_log 12 12 3_cat 3 3...

can't compile ices 2 on ppc
I've tried everything I know how (and a lot I don't) to get ices to compile on this beige G3 ppc box. I've got the latest cvs of libshout and ices. Gentoo linux ppc 1.2-r1, from stage3 tarball. gcc 2.95.3 I've made sure that libshout points to libshout.so.2.0.2. Don't know what else to try. I've got the box here, and I've port-forwarded through my firewall to...

Actually, I was more interested in how you set up the disk array. The biggest one I'd set up was a while back, when 60 GB drives were at the best price point, and I created a 420...

Re: New Server Recommendation -- Hot-Swap SATA enclosure ...
...ds a 3Ware Escalade 8006-2 or 8506-4. When cost is supreme, then just a Escalade 7006-2 or 8006-2 with (2) [P]ATA or [S]ATA drives is what you want. It only adds ~$125 to system cost. When you want to minimize cost, but also minimize troubles, I recommend an Escalade 8506-4LP with an EN-8721A02 (Beige) or EN-8721B02 (Black) 5.25" x 3U (3xHH) internal enclosure. SATA was explicitly designed for hot-swap with fixed, SCA-like, staggered, fixed-position connectors with _no_ extra interconnect (i.e., like SCA SCSI drives, SATA drives _should_ connect _directly_ to the backplane, and the "c...

Booting a multi-ISO CD on a Mac.
Is this even a possibility? Both my brother and I have PPC G3 Mac's that we would like to install Linux on. I have downloaded a couple of Debian ISOs and a couple of Gentoo ISOs. All four would easily fit on a single CD. So, my question/problem is, is it possible to configure a menu to chose between them, that will boot up on a Mac PPC? Thanks, Lonnie -- Later, Lonnie Mostly Debian,

Getting GSiteCrawler v1.23 rev 286 to work in Wine
Hi I'm trying to get GSiteCrawler v1.23 to work in Wine GSiteCrawler worked fine in Fedora 8 running Wine 1.1.9, but I have a couple of issues with this app in Fedora 15 running Wine 1.3.18. I followed the normal installation procedure for this app by doing a normal install and then running the Jet40 service pack via WineTricks. The program starts up normally but all the tabs in the

Very few people seem to be using synonym in Xapian, I recently found some problems in the use of synonyms. Normally, I think we should not contain any prefix info in synonym table except that 'Z'. For example, I have the following synonyms and prefix info: db.add_synonym("search", "find"); db.add_synonym("Zsearch", "Zfind");

CD Baby using FLAC to archive 40,000 CDs
Hey FLAC gang - Just thought you'd like to know CD Baby has switched to FLAC for archiving the 40,000 CDs we have in stock. Luckily HD space is down below $1/gig so we got a 6-terabyte RAID-5 box set up for about $7000. Got the FreeBSD boxes churning away night and day, ripping and archiving. I'll do a more formal press release for ya in a couple months as we're further along, but

I had heard of Dans Guardian and am reading about what's involved here but just wanted an opinion on what's the best solution for this. NTLM silent

Hardware requirements
I don't seem to be able to find the necessary hardware specs for an Asterisk server. What I have in mind is a dedicated server to serve 50 or so people. All users will use SIP phones and there will be an ISDN gateway for outgoing/incoming calls. Do you have any suggestions about the server specs (CPU, RAM, HD, etc)? Also, has anyone used Epigi Quadro ISDN gateway with Asterisk? If so, what is
