X100P interrupt load
...00 interrupts per second on my X100p card. It was a bit worse under FreeBSD, and I experienced frequent lockups, hangs, and X100p malfunctions, so I switched to Linux. The machine is usable under Linux, but I still think that number of interrupts per second is a bit high. My motherboard is an Abit BE6, and it seems to have some IRQ assignment problems, so I'm wondering what my baseline should be. Also, I have a dual CPU PII motherboard with two X100P cards in it, and it's hitting about 1000 interrupts per second per card too. Is this normal? How many interrupts per second can a given CP...

Problem with smbfs on 2.4.18 kernel
...module in 2.4.18 kernel. I compiled it by myself (not the very first kernel compilation in my life ;-)) and then I have got it. Looks like it touch smbfs module as when I recompile 2.4.18 modules with smbfs sources changed to sources of smbfs from 2.4.17 problem disappears!! My mainboard is Abit BE6 with Pentium III 450 MHz. I am using SuSE 7.3 with all available patches. Base kernel was 2.4.16 from SuSE update but I wanted to change it now to 2.4.18. The same problem apperas in fact in 2.4.18 kernel distributed by Hubert Mantel from SuSE team. But as I realized it is also in vanila - I am...
