Windows 7 caching credentials breaks with hibernation
I am running Samba 3.5.5 on Solaris 10. I have one machine as a PDC,
one as a BDC.
If I logon to the domain from a Windows 7 Pro (64-bit) laptop,
hibernate the machine, unplug the network cable and wake the machine, I
can not unlock the screen. I will get the message "There are currently
no logon servers available to service the logon request." Other users
have reported this.

Samba4 Replication Errors
...amba Version 4.1.8. The promotion was successful and after a few tweaks to DNS, replication is working. It is however failing on some items and I'm at a loss on how to resolve them. Attached is the output of samba-tool drs showrepl for each of the servers. PDC1 and BDC1 are our existing DCs and BDC2 is the newly joined DC. BDC2 seems to fully replicate inbound/outbound to our PDC, but if I manually tell it to replicate to our PDC using any of the following commands samba-tool drs replicate PDC BDC2 dc=ncs,dc=k12,dc=de,dc=us, samba-tool drs replicate PDC BDC2 CN=Configuration,dc=ncs,dc=k12,dc=d...

Samba PDC + OpenLDAP + Samba BDC
...goes fine, our
company will grow (doing our best)
in this year by a minimum of 25-30 computers, and I've stuided the TOSHARG ,
and it says that for every
50 computer a bdc is suggested.
The questions :
1.how does the client who is logging in to the domain know which server to
use pdc bdc1 bdc2 ? , how is this decided.
2.is it a good idea to place the pdc and bdc close to each other , on the
same switch ? , or should they be far from each other
(closer to the clients they are supposed to validate in the domain).
Thank you foreward for your time.
Sincerely
Robert Becskei

PDC, BDCs - how do you synchronize roaming profiles?
...main controller that is probably the closest/fastest etc. one.
As a consequence, this also means, that on each server there has to be a
copy of a profile of a given user, right?
If so, how can I keep roaming profiles in sync, given the fact that I
don't know if user will log onto PDC, BDC1, BDC2 etc.?
For example, at 11.00-11.30 user Joe will log in/out PDC in building A,
and at 12.00-12.30 will log in/out BDC1 in building B, and then at
13.00-13.30 log in/out BDC2 in building C - how can I assure that that
user will have that same (roaming) profile?
Or perhaps I don't understand...

Samba/LDAP Domains and multiple File Servers
Hi All,
I have a domain setup soon to go into production. We have 3 buildings,
each containing a fileserver for that buildings users (home drives/share
drives). I've been using the smbldap-tools on the PDC, which is all
working fine. Is it possible to join another server to the domain, also
using the smbldap-tools, with a different config, that will setup a
users home drive, etc on

Samba and CNAME
Hello,
we successfully migrated from a Samba 3.x NT Domain to a Samba AD Domain
using Samba 4.7.x.
However, there are still some issues and I hope for your help.
The biggest problem so far follows:
For historical reasons our Samba file servers carry a lot of aliases.
Now that they have become AD Members I did set a lot of CNAMEs in the AD
DNS (using the Windows DNS Tool). Most of the aliases
