Broadcom Wifi Problem
...on, the wifi makes DHCP
connections to my router with no problem. Since this
was not working in my new CentOS 6 partition, and
remembering that there was a driver problem with the
old Fedora partition it replaced, I followed instructions
founs at:
http://repecka.net/en/2011/04/19/install-broadcom-bcm4311-802-11bg-wlan-
drivers-on-centos/
and
http://www.broadcom.com/docs/linux_sta/README.txt
modifying for that fact that I use wlan0 rather than eth1.
The wifi is now dead-in-the-water. The wlan light now
remains red, and neither ifconfig nor iwconfig show any
sign of wlan0 (contra to the situation...

Kernel Panic with wl.ko (Broadcom wireless driver) [CentOS 5.4]
Been experimenting with CentOS 5.4 some more. In order to get my wireless
card to work (Broadcom BCM4311) I need Broadcom's wl.ko driver (http://
www.broadcom.com/support/802.11/linux_sta.php). It compiles fine after
the necessary modification in typedef.h, loads and wireless works.
However, as soon as I put some load on that interface (scp something from
another machine, download something wit...

Broadcom Wiki page - latest driver issue
Hi folks,
as some of you probably know, there's been some input lately from the
community in regard to the aforementioned Wiki page.
I temporarily got my hands on a piece of hardware equipped with BCM4311
so I can test the latest driver - and came to a conclusion that it
doesn't work at all - it does load with the dependencies, but WiFi won't
activate.
Now, I have an older driver version (5.10.91.9 - x86_64) that works
nicely in my possession - a leftover from the time when the manual w...

CentOS 6, Broadcom, missing wlan0
...ls described earlier.
http://www.broadcom.com/support/802.11/linux_sta.php
I did however have to patch it with
http://www.broadcom.com/docs/linux_sta/5_100_82_38.patch
the driver built and installed fine. In fact, I'm using it
on my laptop as we speak.
On my CentOS 6, with BCM4311 802.11b/g. I installed:
hybrid-portsrc_x86_32-v5_100_82_38.tar.gz
With NetworkManager shut off, I see:
#lsmod | grep "b43\|ssb\|wl"
wl 2635904 0
lib80211 4858 1 wl
and I try to start with:
ifup wlan0
I put debug in the script, follow...

Problems with Broadcom 4312 wireless
I'm migrating my son's Dell laptop from Vista to CentOS 5.3. He came
back from each of his first two years of college loaded with virii and
trojans. This year he said "Dad, can you give me Linux?"
5.3 went onto the laptop easily and after doing some research, I applied
the guidance for getting multimedia working and got the nvidia driver
loaded. That works great.

BCM4313 on CentOS 6.3
Hi all,
I'm a complete newbie in Linux and am trying to get my Broadcom BCM4313
working in my Lenovo S10-3t netbook (CentOS 6.3 installed from LiveCD).
I followed the steps in the wiki, which lead me to ELRepo: wl-kmod. I
followed the instructions there until Step 2:
$ mkdir -p ~/rpmbuild/{BUILD,RPMS,SPECS,SOURCES,SRPMS}
$ echo -e "%_topdir $(echo $HOME)/rpmbuild\n%dist .el$(lsb_release
