chroot-patch for 3.6.1p1?
Hi all, I am looking for a chroot-patch like it was available for the 3.5p1 version. Does anybody has such a patch? Because chroot doesn't work with 3.6.1p1 under Reliant Unix 5.45 from Fujitsu-Siemens. regards Stephan Dr. Stephan Hendl Systemmanagement ----------------------------------- Landesbetrieb f?r Datenverarbeitung und Statistik Land Brandenburg Adresse: 14467 Potsdam, Dortustr.

changes to allow chroot'ed sftp
...ters are: "-c /usr/libexec/sshd/sshd-server" If sftp-server doesn't cooperate, you end up with a (potential) remote root exploit. Perhaps instead of checking for a parameter of '-c' I should just check for euid==0? -- Stephen Samuel +1(604)876-0426 samuel at bcgreen.com http://www.bcgreen.com/~samuel/ Powerful committed communication, reaching through fear, uncertainty and doubt to touch the jewel within each person and bring it to life. -------------- next part -------------- An embedded and charset-unspecified text was scrubbed... [Q] What might cause modification dates to shift later by an hour?
Recently, our backup software oddly decided to rebackup a good portion of our file server instead of just doing an incremental. When I examined various sets of presumably identical files, I discovered that the modification dates on these files were no longer the same. Many files were re-dated to exactly one hour later such that if a file had been modified on 3/24/04 at 2:24:53 PM, it's

Retaining undelete data on ext3
...e plug gets pulled in the middle of a file delete, the old block pointers would be unavailable -- I don't see this as a killer issue, since editing the filesystem to do an undelete should be considered an emergency operation anyways. -- Stephen Samuel +1(778)861-7641 samnospam at bcgreen.com http://www.bcgreen.com/ Powerful committed communication. Hi, I need to understand and to calculate the offset of the beginning of a file within my partition which uses an ext3 filesystem. Can I use dumpe2fs to figure that out, if yes how? Sincerely, William Tambe

How to mount ext3 root partition with noatime and ro options at boot-time
Hi all, I was trying to mount root-partition which is ext3 partition with noatime and ro option. I included "ro" in the kernel command line But for mounting it with "noatime" option when I searched for some solution I came across a patch http://lkml.org/lkml/2007/8/5/38 But after applying this patch and including option "noatime" in

Compact Flash, EXT3, and IDE - a bad idea?
Hi All, I'm currently running an embedded linux system (arm) with a CF card mounted as EXT3. I'll copy some system details below... Anyway, I'm getting some drive errors and I'm wondering if they're due to bad/old drivers, something with EXT3 and CF latency, or something else entirely. These are the errors: hda: write_intr error1: nr_sectors=1, stat=0x51 hda:

bit per bit copy! ext3
I have a flash memory stick that is formated with ext3 file system. NOw, there is an application on it that I would like to copy to another memory stick. I can copy it, but when I do so, that application does not work properly (it won't start - boot problem???). Is there a tool that can copy an entire content from one flash stick to another? un'stat'able files - fs corruption?
Hello list, I have some serious problems on my ext3 filesystem. Several folders contain files, which cannot be accessed in any way, not even a stat() on these files is possible: [~]$ ls -l -rwxrwxr-x 1 yvonne users 30208 2007-09-16 12:49 Stoffverteilungsplan tw kl4 07.doc ?--------- ? ? ? ? ? Is ext3 the right choice?
Dear All, Our mobile device, which runs linux 2.4, uses ext3 as its filesystem. To make ext3 work, we have Samsung's xrs module, a middle layer which resembles MTD, to simulate disk devices over Samsung's onenand flash. Recently some of our phones are suffering a filesystem crash with only 30% space used on that partition. So I began to doubt whether it is right to employ an disk

recovering corrupt file system
Any recommendations for tools to diagnose and recover problems on an ext4 file system? In particular: root@jessie01:~# mount -o ro /dev/markov02/root /mnt/markov02 mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/mapper/markov02-root, missing codepage or helper program, or other error In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so. and e2fsck

Poor Performance WhenNumber of Files > 1M
Hi all, I plan on having about 100M files totaling about 8.5TiBytes. To see how ext3 would perform with large numbers of files I've written a test program which creates a configurable number of files into a configurable number of directories, reads from those files, lists them and then deletes them. Even up to 1M files ext3 seems to perform well and scale linearly; the time to execute

Help on ext3 file system corruption issue
Hi All, I m a novice developer of Linux applications. Recently I faced a file system corruption. (I guess) I have a Kernel 2.4.7-10 with ext3 file system in compact flash. The system was up for 3 months and was running with average load conditions. One fine day, it just started sending kernel messages on the serial console. The message was like this. EXT3-fs error (device ide0(3,2)):

forced fsck (again?)
hello everyone. i guess this has been asked before, but haven't found it in the faq. i have the following issue... it is not uncommon nowadays to have desktops with filesystems in the order of 500gb/1tb. now, my kubuntu (but other distros do the same) forces a fsck on ext3 every so often, no matter what. in the past it wasn't a big issue. but with sizes increasing so much, users are
