cannot join an existing AD as either a RODC or DC w/ samba4
I'm unable to have samba4 join an existing AD domain as either an RODC
(preferrable) or merely a DC.
AD domain is Win2k3, but we recently added a pair of Win2k8 DCs to it.
Domain functional level is Win2k3.

samba 4 alpha 19 cannot join existing AD
Hi,
My apologies if this is a FAQ that I missed. This is my first attempt
at setting up samba4. Following the howto instructions:
kinit administrator seems to work fine.
samba is latest git (alpha19).
however the join fails (as below):
[root at ads bin]# ./samba-tool domain join tribalnova.local DC
-Uadministrator --realm=tribalnova.local -d4
GENSEC backend 'gssapi_spnego'

a Win2k machine called "Whitehead" and a
win98 machine called "Wyrm".
I cant connect to the WinXP or Win2k machine

Debian patched 3.6.6 winbindd fails.
Hi there,
I manage a Samba installation which has been operating very well on
Debian Wheezy for a number of years. Up until last week I was running
3.6.25, which (as always until now) I compiled myself. Because of the
large number of changes in the recent security patches, I opted to try
the Debian 'samba' and 'winbind' packages. I was a little horrified
to find that Debian is

Samba 3.4.9 net rpc shutdown and XP Domain client
Hi @all,
this is an very old problem, posted the first time 2005 to
samba-testers at samba.org:
If I have a Domain client with WinXP, which is part of a domain and
using this client, if the PDC is not available and want to remote shut
down this client with the net tool from other servers, then this is not
possible, because net tries to authenticate against the PDC:

Smbclient fails to connect
Hi,
I've recently upgrade to Samba 1.9.17p1 from 1.9.16p11 (for Solaris 2.5), but
have now found that smbclient fails to connect to user shares on win95
machines. I've tried the same login account from a win95 account and am able
to mount shares from other win 95 machines. I've also tried running the old
smbclient binary with the new smbd & nmbd daemons, and that lets me log

Upgrading a ctdb cluster: samba not listening on TCP port 445
Hi all,
I try to update two clustered samba file servers. Right now samba 4.7.0
with ctdb is running on both of them. To update samba I stopped ctdb on
one of the servers, and compiled and installed samba 4.7.1 with:
./configure --with-cluster-support --with-shared-modules=idmap_tdb2,idmap_ad,vfs_glusterfs --with-systemd

Samba4 can't join domain - drsuapi.DsBindInfoFallBack object has no attribute
I have a Win2k3 server and am trying to manage a Samba4 box (name:UBUNTUSERVER, running Ubuntu 12.04.3 + Samba 4.0.10) as a backup. All seemed well, but after a problem with replication (result 1306 WERR_REVISION_MISMATCH), I couldn't even demote the samba4 DC. So I deleted from SERVERW2K3, deleted /usr/local/samba and re-compiled everything. Also ran make quicktest, all seems OK.
Now, this
