Bayonne and Asterisk
All, is anyone using Bayonne in conjunction with Asterisk? I'm currently using only Bayonne, but I'm investigating the possibilities of switching the telephony frontend over to Asterisk, and have Asterisk route the IVR tasks to Bayonne through H323. Anyone care to share his views on this approach? Any pointers or...

Asterisk vs. Vocal (Vovida) vs. Bayonne
Folks, I love Asterisk, have been using it for a while now. I'd like to know if anyone has some good comparison points on Asterisk vs. Vocal (Vovida) vs. GNU Bayonne. I know only a little about the later two. Also, one drawback I've hard about Asterisk (not for me, but for general consumption/deployment) is easy of configuration -- people like GUIs. They want point-n-click. I'm a "vi" guy with CLI preferences. Gastman handles monitoring...

Basic Asterisk capabilities question
...couldn't find a good answer to this on the info boards. I'd like to know if the following is possible and reasonable to accomplish: I'd like to configure a voice recording system using Asterisk and a Tormenta2 Quad T1 card. A co-worker was able to create this system a while back with Bayonne and a Dialogic card, but I would like to do the same thing with much cheaper hardware. I do not believe Bayonne supports the Tormenta2. (I think it is also known as the Wildcard TE410P) When the user dials in: - He enters his user id - he enters his password - he begins his recording. - while...

Suggestions for what to do with a Dialogic D/41EPCI?
...m what I've seen Asterisk only supports the newer D/41JCT-LS. What are the differences between the D/41EPCI and the D/41JCT-LS? Can anyone recommend software that I could run to use the D/41EPCI to be an FXO <-> SIP gateway that I could then connect to asterisk with? I've seen that Bayonne seems to support that card, but I didn't see any application for using Bayonne as a SIP gateway. Thanks in advance for any help, --Rob

Fair comparison
...makers of VOCAL, it tends to have a one sided slant. Maybe we should try to put together an unbiased comparison (read that as pro/con). I was talking at a meeting about Asterisk, and someone attempted to start flaming Asterisk, and swearing by VOCAL, while another was babbling about the wonders of Bayonne. The only thing that was successful in that meeting about VOIP solutions was tabling that discussion until a future (as in way, way in the future) date. Just a thought! Kim C. Callis

Voicetronix driver for V6PCI/V12PCI - first draft
Good people, Please find attached a first shot at a driver for the Voicetronix OpenSwitch hardware. It does work (ish). After paying $900-odd for it I figured I might try to make it work with Asterisk (could never get enough documentation on Bayonne!) I have problems with the audio quality, and since am new to Asterisk, I could really do with some input. First is that because the voicetronix api does not provide a nice way for one to emulate a file descriptor per channel (for asterisk to monitor for exceptions and data-ready), I had to...

What is Newt?

I have been seeing references to a ncurses based tool called Newt (on the Bayonne mailing list of all places). What is Newt? Is it part of the main Asterisk source? Voicetronix Hardware
...at but we have now moved to E1 so can no longer use analogue cards so have moved over to asterisk running on digium hardware. Items no 2745081372 and 2745081930 I'm not sure of the current state of the voicetronix driver for asterisk but these cards were from my previous attempts at IVR using bayonne. Phil

First approach to Asterisk - need help
Hello, We are trying to migrate from an old application based on VOS to some linux based telephony server. We are investigating bayonne and asterisk, and we still don't know what is the best option for us. One of the limitations is our old hardware, we have in stock some old Dialogic boards. Does asterisk work with such boards? The other important limitation is that the application needs to interact with a MS SQL Server in or...

Tormenta 2 Card number rotary switch
...U. I noticed the rotary switch on each card that sets the card number or ID... Both switches were set up on 0 and everything worked fine. Should i set one card to 0 and the other one to 1, or... "if it works, don't fix it!" ? I had some nightmares with IDs on Dialogic hardware with Bayonne and i don't want to go back to that age :( . Sorry if this is a stupid question, i'm newbie in working with these cards. Thanks, Calin.

Openline4 and asterisk@home
...s configured, but can't figure out how to map trunks and channels the typical way in the AMP config interface for Asterisk@home. Apparently I'm supposed to use /vpb/1 type commands, but I'm not sure how it should work. I'm relatively new to asterisk, I did a bunch of stuff with Bayonne a few years ago. I was successful using asterisk@home to setup a sip based setup thanks to the tutorial at nerd vittles. Anyway, can somebody give me the high level concept and a few examples of how to get my openline4 card rocking with asterisk@home? Thanks, Chuck

Dialogic channel pricing
Speaking as former Dialogic/Bayonne user who was frustrated for months with Dialogic's complexity and months of initial testing with GlobalCall only to use their many-years-old and very complex base Dialogic drivers(and eventually scrapping it all for Digium/Asterisk and being up one week later), I can tell you that Digium/Aster...

Anyway, I am new to this software, and I have a lot of questions which I am hoping someone on the mailing list might be able to answer for me.....I am basically trying to

Stuck. Extenions.conf? Realtime? MySQL? Grrrrr!
Boy, am I stuck... I'm officially ready to toss Asterisk out the window. I have to admit it isn't necessarily all the fault of Asterisk either. It just seems that every option I turn to suddenly ends in failure. I don't know if it's me that's bitten of more than I can chew with this project, or maybe Asterisk just isn't mature enough yet. Nothing complicated really....
