Dovecot, sa-learn and sieve - where to save the Bayes DB
Hi!
I have dovecot, Spamassassin and postfix running. I started to use
sa-learn to get better and more precise spam identification and
filtering.
I have not set the Bayes_path preference on my local.cf file, thus when
I call sa-learn -u myuser at mydomain.org --spam, the Bayes DB gets updated
at /root/.spamassassin.
I decided then to create a sieve filter on dovecot, as described on
Dovecot's wiki page. Basically, Dovecot's sieve plugin execute sa-learn

I have SpamAssassin 3.0.3 installed:
/etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf contains:
use_bayes 1
bayes_auto_learn 1
bayes_path /etc/mail/spamassassin/bayes
Once an hour I run a shell script against one of my mailboxes (in mdir
format):

do

done
However this seems to result in a version 0 database.
Running sa-learn --sync will make --lint repor...

...st of all - what OS is this ? BSD ? And how did you install your spamassassin (ports\compiling from source)?
Show your local.cf file (/etc/mail/spamassassin or /usr/local/etc/mail/spamassasin).
After reading perldoc Mail::SpamAssassin::Conf add to your local.cf for debugging:
bayes_file_mode 0777
bayes_path /tmp/.spamassassin/bayes
Create folder /tmp/.spamassassin and set permitions 777.
Restart spamd with dovecot and try it.
