"shifted" bar chart / battleship curve
...hat have a common set of variables (e.g., % of As, % of Bs, etc.) listed on the Y-axis and groups (e.g., Classes) on the X-axis. The key here is that the bars for each individual class plot are "centered" rather than left or right-justified. In archaeology plots similar to this are called battleship curves or Ford Diagrams, but the suggestions I've received involved manual centering of the bars in Adobe Illustrator. Any suggestions for automating this process are much appreciated. An example of what this might look like can be seen here: http://tfqa.com/graphics/ford2.gif Thank you, Adam...

I like the look of violin plots, but my data is not continuous but rather binned and I want to make sure its binned nature (not smooth) is apparent in the final plot. SIP Presence across two servers
...VPN. Everything presence related works wonderfully for local users, but I'm hoping there's a way we could get presence for the people "at the other end of the pipe" fairly transparently. I'm sure this has been covered, but my Googlefu us turning up a ton of redundant, old, and deprecated information so I've resorted to asking here. >From what I have...

...at much different in content to a basic dhcpd setup with a few name changes, etc.. Now how the tsig keys, etc.. will be handled is where the learning curve begins... There is a lot of enterprise inertia out there for sticking with a bind/dhcpd/samba setup -- for the same reason we still have battleships... -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

Ok, its time. AJAX Games via Rails....
...that popped into my head was "I can do the same thing I was doing before, but without Flash, and with a server backend of my choice" - I''m not saying the Unity server is bad - its a very good server and Colin did a great job with it. I''ve seent he AJAX online Chess, battleship, etc. games now rolling out, but no one has done any RPG or war type games -- and that would be fun to be one of the first to do something like that. I''ve got a lot of the game engine thought out and several proto-type engines built and tested (in .Net actually). I''ve pieced...
