If it's only whitespace differences, that's easy to accommodate. If there are other cases that don't work, maybe don't use this tactic for those, if we have a good reason for being different. As they say, don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. --paulr From: David Blaikie [mailto:dblaikie at gmail.com] Sent: Tuesday, June 20, 2017 10:39 AM To: Rui Ueyama; Robinson, Paul Cc: Martin J. Are these steps for re-installing Gnome correct/safe?
...s become a little chaotic, and, long story short, I would like to uninstall KDE and Gnome, and then reinstall Gnome. (I want to remove KDE for the time being because I just don't think I want it taking up space on my hard drive). The thing is, I don't want to throw the baby out with the bathwater. For instance, I want to make sure I don't lose settings in X, like my xorg.conf file. I just want to reset my Gnome interface back to how it was when I first installed it. I'm thinking the steps I need to take are roughtly these, but it would be great if someone could verify that th...

Adjusting for heaping in data
Hi R users. I am new to the community and have got myself into a little problem. I have a dataset of birth weights recorded by nurses at a delivery clinic in an developing country. The weights are entered in KiloGrams with one decimal. However there is substantial heaping at each 500g when looking at the sample in a histogram. Do anyone of you know a easy way to adjust for this and if it exists

Question about PCA with prcomp
Hello All, The basic premise of what I want to do is the following: I have 20 "entities" for which I have ~500 measurements each. So, I have a matrix of 20 rows by ~500 columns. The 20 entities fall into two classes: "good" and "bad." I eventually would like to derive a model that would then be able to classify new entities as being in "good

dixon test
Hi, I need some help using the R outliers package. I would like to perform a Q-test (Dixon test) on my data set. I used the dixon.test function, but I cannot understand what is the confidence level used to perform the test. I have n=101 (n= number of data). So, can I use directly dixon.test ? What about qdixon and qtable functions? thank you so much! -- View this message in context:

Buildbot Noise
...with those bots is to completely disable their emails / IRC messages, so that no one gets flooded with noise from broken bots. However, some bots on the 1.2 category fall into this one for short periods of time (~1 week), so we need to be careful with what we disable here. That's the key baby/bathwater issue. Any hard policy here will be wrong for some bots some of the time, so I'd love if we could all just trust the bot owners a bit when they say they're fixing the issue. However, bots that fall here for more than a month, or more often that a few times during a few months (I'm be...

Is this an elaborate hoax/troll?
I sure hope so: http://duckdown.blogspot.com/2006/03/additional-thoughts-on-why-ruby-isnt.html Seems like it''s getting genuine rebuttals, though. It''s actually kind of amusing.
