basketball (was: R spam)
Not to draw this off-topic thread out too long, but perhaps there are enough interested to make it worthwhile: > > And, since my son asked me and I am basketball ignorant: Why are > > basketball scores mostly much too close to equality? The arguments > > (loose power when leading) The relevant rule is the one that dictates that after a team scores a basket, the ball goes back into play in the possession of the other team. Asterisk -> Streaming Audio Bridge
Greetings, Does anyone know of a tool that can act as a VoIP client and stream to a streaming server such as shoutcast/icecast, etc. I've got a client interested in doing basketball play by plays during tourney season. They have * in place now and the bandwidth to burn for streaming out. In the old world, I did an analog phone patch -> mixer -> encoder -> streaming server. What I'm thinking of is more along the lines of a client that registers as a SIP/IAX clie...

Significance Help
I have a set of results where I have the eyesight power of both left and right eyes for each participant (e.g. 0.75, 0.5). Each participant then had to throw basketballs into a hoop and the number of successful throws was recorded. I would like to do two things: 1. Test whether the eyesight power of the left and right eyes are significantly different from each other. 2. Test whether the number of successful throws is significantly affected by eyesight power (i.e...

re cognizing patterns
DeaRs, i'm looking for some references on a statement as follows: "Humans are good at spotting trends and patterns in data, but they are also good at spotting those patterns where none really exist". This is not verbatim but there must be some scholarly work on this. I can't remember where I came across it - perhaps I dreamed it up? Help, anyone? Best wishes Paul -- View this
