Is there an R implementation for the "Barnard's exact test" (a substitute for fisher.test) ?
Hello R help members. I came across today with an article on Barnard's exact
test (http://www.cytel.com/Papers/twobinomials.pdf), that is supposed to
give a more powerful fisher.test - Because it doesn't assume that we know
the row and column totals are in advance. Any pointers to such a function ?
Thanks, Tal

Barnard's sequential t-test code ?
Does anyone have, or know of, some S or R code to implement
the sequential t-test ?
The test is outlined in Kendall & Stuart vol 2A, ch 24, and a 'how
to do it' with a set of tables is given in 'Design & Analysis of
Industrial Experiments' ( O.L.Davies).
I'm interested in obtaining/creating an Splus or R application which

covariance analysis model
Dear list users,
I have trouble with covariance analysis.
I measured nitrate concentrations in the soil (NO3) and the percentage of
legumes (LEG, continuous), affected by 2 different CO2 concentrations (CO2,
discrete). I suspect that CO2 has an effect on LEG and NO3, but also that
LEG has an effect on NO3, so this is the formula I wrote to test this:
NO3 ~ CO2 + LEG + CO2:LEG
Will LEG be

make check fails after building R 2.1.0 on Fedora Core 3
I have R v2.0.1 already running on the machine in question; a fairly
generic Fedora Core 3 machine. I am trying to build the new version
2.1.0 and have not been able to troubleshoot the problem I encountered.
I'm hoping someone else has seen it and can suggest a troubleshooting
avenue to me.
The build succeeds, both from the source RPM and from the tarball. I
believed I had all the build

Cannot configure wine/darwine
I've installed Darwine on an iMac. As per the
documentation, I have attempted to run winecfg to set
the various configs. But I cannot get it to display.
The error log says that it attempted to create a
window, but no driver found. Since I can't config, I
can't set a driver.
Any ideas?

time-ordered object list
It's often useful to view objects in time order.
In Splus I can do this with
> objects.summary(order = "dataset.date")
which delivers this sort of thing ...

sequential t-test - replies
[my original message to s-news & r-help is attached ]
No one possessed or knew of any S/R code for the sequential t-test. Also
it doesn't appear in the SAS index.
One or two suggested obtaining the S+ seqtrial software which may (or may
not) cover this, but this seemed to be a bit of a "hammer to crack a nut".
I have written a function based on the treatment in Wetheril

using getBioC()
Hello,
I am trying to install R/Bioconductor on a G4 Mac running OS X. I
have successfully installed R so that a command window opens, but
installation of the downloaded Bioconductor package is giving me
trouble. After copying/pasting the Bioconductor installation script
in to the window and typing getBioC(), I get the following error
message.

Package implementing unconditional tests for comparing two binomials
Hello,
I am looking for a package implementing unconditional tests for comparing two
binomials (Barnard's test or derivatives). As I am looking for rare genotypes
within my groups, my number of subjects in one of the cells of the 2x2 table
is often 2-4 resulting in a too conservative result by Fisher's exact test due
to the discrete sample space of the test statistic. As I want to use

What does this error mean and can I fix it.
This is true with OpenSsh 3.8p1 and OpenSsh 3.9p1. I am running on Sun
Solaris servers, both Solaris 8 and Solaris 9.
I send all ssh syslog messages to local3 via the sshd_config file. I
periodically get in my error logs the line:
Oct 4 15:29:36 wintermute sshd[14517]: [ID 800047 local3.error] error:

Wildcard x100p and Redhat 9.0: Unable to get parameters
Hi folks
Seems really simple but run out of ideas:
1. Used Redhat 9 Packages for Asterisk
2. Zaptel one didn't work so recompiled zaptel from cvs against my kernel
2.4.20-8
3. Compile is fine no depmod problems/ugly message etc.
4. lsmod:

R for simple stats
Hi everyone,
I'm taking a course in statistics as part of my doctoral program in
education at the U. of Minnesota, USA. I found R via Rpy, a python
module that makes it possible to use R from python scripts.
The instructor refers to SPSS a lot and that seems to be the standard
stats tool around here. But being more of a Unix guy and not intimidated
by programming, I'd like to see if I
