bug in shorewall shorewall-2.1.7-1 rpm??
Hi! I installed shorewall shorewall-2.1.7-1 on a newly installed box. When using 1.4 versions I could enable shorewall in ntsysv, now shorewall doesn''t show up in ntsysv? I am running shorewall on a RedHat Enterprise Linux rebuild (www.taolinux.org). Is this a bug or a feature?

Kernel downgrade?
Hi list! I've been bitten by a bug in the latest kernel 2.6.9-34.EL and I already removed the old kernel. Are old kernels retained at any place? I need to go back to 2.6.9-22.02 but where can I find it? In the Centos 4.3 directory I find only the latest kernel, not the older ones? Thanks!!

DAHDI aaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrghhhhhhhhh :((((
The information (or lack of it) on upgrading from zaptel to that @&*^QW%&^%!!! dahdi is very frustrating. I cannot find anything on how to uninstall zaptel, i found an earlier post to this list which suggested make uninstall and make remove in the zaptel directory which just generates errors and does nothing (on zaptel 12.1). Then i install dahdi-linux and dahdi-tools and i want to

GSM Gateway behind SIP ATA?
I have an analog GSM Gateway that is connected to a normal SIP ATA device. Basically what it does is this : when you call the extension nr. of the SIP ATA port, the GSM Gateway will pick up the phone and presents a (new) dial tone, and then dials whichever DTMF tones it received. The SIP ATA ia a Grandstream HT286. I would like to use the GSM Gateway to route my outbound cellular calls, how

Routing inomcing TightVNC connections?
Hi! I have this rule to allow incoming VNC connections to a host on my private LAN: DNAT net:$SITE1 loc:$JOHN tcp 5900:5910 This works perfectly the host can connect without problems. Would it be possible to link the internal host to an external ip? For example if Site1 would connect on the VNC port, all traffic gets forwarded to loc:$JOHN. But if net:$SITE2 connects

NFS server
Could anybody help me with the correct rules to allow a client to connect to an NFS share on my Linux box/firewall? >From what I understand from some howto''s on the net is that there are several daemons that are required to make NFS work. Some rules I found in the NFS howto: iptables -A INPUT -f -j ACCEPT -s 192.168.0.45 iptables -A INPUT -s 192.168.0.45 -d 0/0 32765:32768 -p 6 -j

Spam vs. Viruses
I have purchased a license for Vexira MailArmor (an antivirus product) and the good news is that it is installed and working at shorewall.net. The bad news is that I have yet to get Vexira running together with SpamAssassin :-( As things currently stand, list posts will be protected from viruses but may contain Spam. I''ll continue to work to correct this situation. -Tom -- Tom Eastep

Intel Atom based Asterisk server?
I currently have some Asterisk home servers on general pc hardware as well as a mission critical server asterisk pbx running on a Dell 2850 To reduce noise and power consumption i would like to migrate them all to an Intel Atom based solution, showstoppers so far were single NIC and single PCI slot motherboards. I found that Supermicro makes a Dual NIC board with one PCI slot and 2

Change in dial command behaviour between 1.2.7.1 and 1.2.8?
Hi list! Are there any changes in the behaviour of the Dial command between 1.2.7.1 and 1.2.8.? I am forwarding calls to my legacy PBX using : exten => s,1,Dial(Zap/g1/8210,90,r) Ever since I upgraded to 1.2.9 it seems as if the Legacy PBX is no longer receiving the extension I am calling on the PBX and the call gets dropped to the switchboard extension on the legacy PBX. Did I goof up

DAHDI trouble (again) Unable to open master device '/dev/zap/ctl'
Because of a kernel upgrade i needed to recompile DAHDI. Dahdi 2.0.0 with 2.0.1 was working ok, after the reboot and compile it doesn't start anymore. Firstly it tells me it is using /etc/zaptel.conf which is deprecated, if i remove that file it complains that this file is missing..... Secondly i get an error about a missing dev file which refers to zap (which seems strange to me because

SMS /w Asterisk
Hi all, I'm looking into being able to send/receive SMS messages with my asterisk box in the US. I've seen the SMS command as well as the Kannel program. I'd prefer to do it from Asterisk. I've tried something like: exten => 999,n,sms(15551234567,s,"This is a test") in my dialplan, but when this runs, it dials the phone number and then nothing. What am I

Login time logging?
Hi all! I need a setup that will log exactly when a user has logged in or out of samba. Preferably I would like to have a separate list per user, but this can also be achieved with grep. I found some solutions that rely on login script processing which is nice if your clients are running Win95/Win98 but for anything else it won't work. Anybody know of a solution? Thanks!!

Disable timestamp change on file access?
Hi list! Is it possible to prevent Samba from modifying the changed time stamp? Now the time stamp is reset every time a file is accessed, even if there are no changes to it. I would just like it to show when the file was written to or changed, not accessed! Thanks!

Why are dots in username & groupname no longer allowed?
For some strange reason I am no longer able to create groupnames or usernames (with useradd and groupadd) that contain a dot. Uptill now it was possible to create user&groupnames like c.smith but now I get these errors: [root at server etc]# useradd c.smith useradd: invalid user name 'c.smith' [root at server1 etc]# groupadd c.smith groupadd: c.smith is a not a valid group name

DNS reload on trunks for outgoing calls
Is there any fix or workaround for the DNS problem (old standing bug that when the box starts and domain names do not resolve quickly enough from DNS then asterisk stops using the outgoing trunks. I read on the list before that it is considered a huge and unacceptable load for asterisk servers to try and resolve the domain names again after some time but it is rather annoying. I don't
