missing values in party::ctree
After ctree builds a tree, how would I determine the direction missing values follow by examining the BinaryTree-class object? For instance in the example below Bare.nuclei has 16 missing values and is used for the first split, but the missing values are not listed in either set of factors. (I have the same question for missing values among numeric [non-factor] values, but I assume the answer is similar.)

recommend benchmarking SW
Hey folks,
We've got some new hardware and are trying to figure out what best to
do with it. Either run CentOS right on the bare metal, or
virtualize, or several combination options. Mainly looking at :
- CentOS on bare metal
- CentOS on ESXi 4.0 with local disk
- CentOS on ESXi with 1 VM running Openfiler to serve disk to other VMs
And want to benchmark these 3 scenarios
So far all we have is a dd-based disk IO benchma...

Investigating memory performance: bare metal vs. xen-pv vs. xen-hvm
I''ve been trying to compare memory access speed between bare-metal, xen-pv
and xen-pvhvm (hvm with pv drivers). In all 3 setups I''m running the same
kernel (3.6.6), built with support for xen, on a 64 core AMD Opteron 6378.
The output of xm info (relevant parts):

bare-metal backup before update--options?
Hi all!
I'm a "nervous nellie", I have not yet updated my 7.5 desktop to 7.6
because (1) it has an Nvidia card, and (2) I've heard of problems
upgrading on top of software RAID (using RAID1 with 2 drives).
I need to upgrade it to stay secure, and I want to do a bare-metal backup
first (so I can put it all back as it now is, in case it explodes in my
face), so I'm trying to figure out the safest way to do that. Here are
the choices as I see them, I'd appreciate comments/thoughts:
1. boot from live DVD and manually reassemble the RAID array (how
would...

setting up bare minimal CentOS VM
Hi all,
I need to setup a real bare minimum CentOS Virtual Machine, but with
normal internet / network access. i.e. I need SSH, Mutt, Links, lynx,
ping, tracert, dig, iptables, etc.
Does anyone know where (if?) I can get a list of applications which
gets installed with CentOS 6 if every option is deselected in the
installer so that...

bare minimum /etc/asterisk for sip based *
What files at a bare minimum need to be in /etc/asterisk for an
asterisk server that does sip only and voicemail. I'm setting up an
asterisk server to provide service for a single SIP softphone
extension with SIP origination and termination. The main purpose of
using * is for voicemail and future expansion abilit...

How to detect whether running on VMware?
Does anyone know how a program, script or shell user can best determine
whether the machine is running on bare metal or is a VMware guest?
Cheers

Bare Metal vs virtualization
...etter spent towards a
cluster for others to use.
This user's needs are for Windows-based apps. The open question,
then, is can the results the user needs be derived from a high-end
Windows cluster or virtual environment that is multi-user capable and
runs Windows-based apps, or do they need bare metal for true results
and performance? I awaiting an answer on this from the user.
In the meantime, for those who may have been faced with this, too,
what have you discovered/learned?
Thanks.

Linux DomU vs Bare Metal performance issues
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi, I''m trying to diagnose a reasonably large performance drop between
two ostensibly similar servers; one running CentOS 5.5 on bare metal,
the other running Fedora 14 as a Xen DomU under CentOS 5.5 (Xen
3.1.2-194.26.1.el5)
I have a pair of older Dell PowerEdge 1750 servers, each with 4GB ram
and 2x 2.4GHz Xeon CPU''s with HyperThreading enabled. CPU''s do not
support any VT. Disks are 3x U320 10k SCSI disks in...

LLVM on bare-metal
Hello!
Q1
Are there any resources or examples on embedding LLVM into an ARM-based
bare-metal application? Searching in this area only turns up
information on how to use LLVM to target bare-metal when I want to
compile LLVM for linking against a bare-metal application.
Q2
Are there any memory usage benchmarks for LLVM across the common tasks
(especially loading bytecode, doing th...

Bare Metal vs Containers/vms
Hi All,
I vaguely remember someone at Astricon making the case for having multiple
containers/vps each running asterisk vs using asterisk direct on bare
metal. Something about getting better performance. Does anyone have any
insight on this?
TIA and stay safe
Dovid
PS I know vps != containers I just don’t recall if the argument was for
vps, containers or both instead of installing direct on bare metal.

What would be the bare minimum hardware and software requirements to
run asterisk in it's full glory with agi support to handle 1 fxo, 1
fxs, and sip off to a provider such as voicepulse.

re-election campaigns, having failed its most important job???passing the
annual budget. But even this deadlocked Congress is capable of doing what

Yes, it seems so. I came across some readings about this tool.

Hum hum, that's what I am trying to do. I found some .zip files to
apply from w8 that will modify IDE/SATA drivers. Are these driver
changes not enough ?

Really? I guess if you *have* to, but I would pick pretty much *any*
interface standard *other* than CAN for audio.

If you are on bare metal, does malloc even work in your *own* code?
I suspect your environment may not even have a valid malloc()
implementation if you are on bare metal.
