XP: VBD could not connect to backend device: USB boot
Hi:
we have following setup:
1. 2.6.16-33-based Xen 3.0.3/Xen-3.0.4 DOM-0 kernels.
2. Using LILO-mbootpack from USB we boot Xen-->DOM-0 setup
3. We mount harddisk and try to install xp.hvm
While,we are successful with FCs as DOM-U, for XP we get, VBD (768)
could not be connected.
We do have max_loop count to 64 and enough loop devices.
Note that above error is consistent on both 3.0.3

New SSL certificate problem
...ng a Verisign certificate. Over the past year, we've
been using a Digicert Wildcard Plus certificate for almost all of our
machines, and I wanted to switched over our DC mailserver.
I used the following command to generate the CSR and key:
openssl req -new -newkey rsa:1024 -nodes -out star_bard_edu.csr -keyout star_bard_edu.key -subj "/C=US/ST=NY/L=ourtown/O=Bard College IT/OU=Bard College /CN=*.bard.edu"
The resultant CSR verified and I submitted it to digicert and got back our cert, plus their intermediate and Trusted root certs.
I killed the root instance of dovecot and wait...

simple q: returning a logical vector of substring matches
I'm a relative R novice, and sometimes the simple things trip me up.
Suppose I have
a <- c("apple", "pear")
and I want a logical vector of whether each of these strings contains
"ear" (in this case, F T). What is the idiom?
Quizzically,

Any sense of when V1.1.3 might appear?
It's been a month since 1.1.2....I'm about to do some V1.0 to V1.1 move work and
I'd rather start on the curve instead of behind it..........

No authentication sockets found
Thunderbird (2.0) is all of a sudden checking mail server capabilities
and keep posting a popup saying:
"Mail Server imap.bard.edu is not an IMAP4 mail server". To the best of
my knowledge, neither Tbird nor DC have been updated, though the DC imap
host was rebooted today 3 hours ago. Any info on what this is about?
DC is currently serving out of a special port and in evaluation
list....I can't imagine that...

Maildir folder hierarchy question
Hello all,
I am trying to set up Dovecot to use a particular
maildir folder hierarchy and have a problem that
relates to the inbox.
the folder hierarchy I want in /.../Maildir/ is:
.inbox
cur
new
tmp
.imap.index.files-for-inbox
.sent-items
cur
new
tmp
.imap.index.files-for-sent-items
however the hierarchy that dovecot gives me is
.inbox (unused)
.INBOX
.imap.index.files-for-.INBOX

PAM question
...INX authentication, but PAM keeps trying to run.
How do I turn it off?
I'll probably eventually want to use PAM; how do I get it to look in
/etc/pam.conf instead /etc/pam.d...or will it find it automatically?

Does NIS/yp work for authentication
...,
will dovecot be able to authenticate with
auth_userdb = passwd
directly and automagically or do you have to do a ypcat passwd > pwfile periodically
to generate a passwd file that dovecot can use?
?
Thanks!

XaraX font problems
...a how to do that: I tried "wine control" but that doesn't seem
to do anything - no control panel popped up.
Questions:
- anyone running XaraX under Wine?
- how do they make XaraX access all the TTF fonts?
- did anyone solve the web-access crashes in XaraX?
Any help is appreciated.
