In the last month, we've discovered a new, ahhhh, "feature" in the version of the version of NFS with CentOS 7: on startup, if it cannot resolve a given host, it dies. It does not continue on up, with all the other hosts it's exporting to, and just log a message. Is there a workaround, or a configuration, to change this "fail on unresolved host" behaviour? mark

...p.org says net.ifnames needs to be set to zero, I found just the opposite but if it doesn't work for you try both before giving up. Hello all, Playing with Xen on GNU/Debian Lenny, I just discovered that all my virtual network cards are in promiscuous mode by default. Changing that manually does not seems to change anything (that is, everything still works great). Is there any reason to have virtual network cards in promiscuous mode ? At work we usually set several partitions (/boot, /, /opt, /var, /var/lib/mysql, /tmp, /home, /home/backup) depending on the use case. For desktops it's always /boot, / and /home. I'm going to rebuild my workstation because maintaining it is now a nightmare after using "recommended" repo's that now conflict with each other. Every time I do a yum update I it fails with conflicts. I'm looking for new recommendations for which repo's to use to have a stable Centos 7 workstation. Much like Centos itself, most of the web pages are very old now.
