covariate selection?
Hello, I am hoping someone can help me with the following multivariate issue: I have a model consisting of about 50 covariates. I would like to reduce this to about 5 covariate for the reduced model by combining cofactors that are strongly correlated. Is there a package or function that would help me with this in R? I appreciate any suggestions. Thanks, Ian

a doubt
Hello all, I'm working with different models that where implemented in DOS system each one, but for doing comparisons between them I require to put some of the results in an unified data form for all the models. I wonder if some of you have the knowledge of one function in R that enable me the invocation of DOS execution files inside the R application to allow me doing an R interface with

Hello again, In a previous message I request your help, but I don't have been clear in my problem. Specifically, I'm trying to create an interface in R for the X-12-ARIMA and TRAMO SEATS, for the versions that run in MS-DOS. This problem awake in me the interest for make interfaces to comparing some Bayesian models for classification that where implemented in MS-DOS to. The question

binary copies vs ascii copies
I have a question about rsync, which is new for me. Hope you can help me: I have copied a binary file whose size is about 100 MB using rsync and I noticed that it takes a lot of time. The same size with a text file wasted really much less time. That binary file is incremental, i.e. it started with a size of 2 kb and then it grew up. But now I am confused with the following: Is the

Does anyone know if R 2.0.0 has been successfully built on Solaris 2.8 with Sun Studio Fortran 95 compiler? or at least, How could I achieve this? The R installation manual does not have any
