Bandwith control
...and now i am just confused, i think my skills with linux are not very good, so asking for help.
I have a linux box with two ethernets cards eth0(gateway 1mb) with is the host for
some sites and emails and eth1(nat interface) with provide internet acess to other 5 pcs.
I would like to limit the bandwith 512 k for the eth0 and 512 k for eth1 however whem there
is free bandwith in eth0 would be nice to eth1 use that bandwith so users can download fast
as there is bandwith and sites and emails donĀ“t get slow.
Can someone point some directions?
Tks

Priotizing Bandwith but without Shaping the Bandwith

output and it works well.

trafic over tcp trafic
Can somebody to help me with my requirement?

bandwith calculation
I would like to know how to calculate the amount of bandwith I would need to host X number of calls.
For example, if user A in San Francisco with an ATA 186 calls user B in New York with an ATA 186 and Asterisk is being hosted in a PC in Miami. How much bandwith do I need to have in Miami? Do I just need bandwith for the setup of the call (ie the SIP part)...

share bandwith between vpns
I have clients, which connectin to Internet through vpn. I want to
dynamically share bandwith between vpn connections, so if there few
connections, then they get all bandwith, if more then they get their
minimal guaranteed bandwith. my idea is:
ip-up.local:
tc class add dev $DEV parent 1:1 classid 1:2${1/ppp/} htb rate
$[$RATEUP/$VPNS]kbit ceil ${RATEUP}kbps
tc filter add dev $DEV protocol...

Dynamic bandwith with HTB
Hi everybody. I have a dilema and I think you guys can help me out.
I am trying to shape the bandwith for about 500 clients, and I want the bandwith to be alocated dynamicly. Lets say I have 4 MB bandwith. I give each ip (500 IP''s) a sustained rate of 4 KB/sec . I wonder if I can shape the bandwith so when for example only 100 clients are online, to give them a rate of 4MB/100. How can thi...

Bandwith especification.
Hi,
If I have a DSL router with 300kpbs upload bandwith:
Linux(eth0) ---(100Mbps)---> DSL ---(300kbps)---> INTERNET
Which is the recomended value I must set in my QoS setup for the maximum
outbound bandwith of my ethernet interface ?
The max of 300kbps or something less like 290kbps ?
Especify less than the maximum available bandwith is advisab...

IP based bandwith limit
Hi,
i''ve following problem. One of our gateway router, which connects some
of our customers should have bandwith limit.
So customer A with IP XX should have 2 Mbit, customer B with IP YY
should have 10 Mbit. There is no need of borrowing bandwith so no
fairness needed.
My simple question: with which technique should I manage this shaping?
Or is there any existing project which provides this allready?

Bandwidth Management
Hi,
understand that the bandwidth utilized for each call is dependent on the
codec used, wonder if Asterisk can monitor the total bandwidth utilized
and restrict/reject new calls when the resource is insufficient to
support them reliably?

share bandwith fairly
Dear members,
I am trying to share the bandwith for all users fairly. because some users heavily uses p2p programs and a few hosts consume most of bandwith. when we limit each flow it does not work as one client has many connection at same time.
Firstly I tried to write a script that use
the ipfm(which accounts traffic usage) logs as follow...

Another sharing tehnique, is this possible ?
hi,
(assume HTB)
I was thinking will it be possible to do some sort of UNFAIR-SHARING :"), what I have in mind :
Say I have a internet link with 100kbits bandwith, then I want to share it between many clients (which will increase over time). Let''s i start with 5 clients with rate = 30kbits...
See the total bandwith of users is 120kbits but I have only 100kbits.... So where is the problem I want to describe their bandwith like
total 100kbits

Bandwith vsatl - not static
I have a existencial problem.
There are some provider that offer the service of bandwith asimetric as
download/upload link as for example 512/256. but most of them offer not
exclusive this amount of transmission or reception capacity. They usually
offer the service with more users as a ratio of 1/10.
How I can design a appropriate diagrama with htb where the amount of
bandwith coul...

A and B have immovability bandwith
hi,Stef:
I read your burst test,I have some questions remain.
A and B have immovability bandwith:
If I bound bandwith to machine A and B,in order to it have 4Mbps,the other machine B have 6Mbps,(I have 10Mbps total). between them no permit bend from each other.
whether burst cburst tokens ctokens value is zero. it''s right?

i''d like to distribute bandwith equally between pcs in a network, and

bandwith issues, ISP hosting services, etc
...For the most part they all have narrow band connections 64kpbs, 128 at most and I?d like to use g729 all around (don?t have too many alternatives)
To start with, I will have one * with no gateway to the PSTN and eventually a few * boxes with termination at different points.
My main concern is the bandwith I will need on the site where * will be located. Currently I have 128kbps but what happends if:
1) Several users connect at the same time to check their voicemail, or run some other app. Is there a way to limit the number of simultaneous connections? that is can the user get a busy tone? I think...

urgent question about tcng!
...the Internet (no FW or router
between, which could handle QoS for me). Of course will these download
mirrors be specially hardened :-)
The Idea:
=========
I can not handle all the traffic at once without QoS, so I thought it should
be possible to establish a traffic control mechanism to guarantee bandwith
for each client download (e.g. 256kbps CIR up to 512kbps ceil). This should
allow me, to "serve" all clients within 120 min, before a new download wave
will hit my servers. If the available bandwith for HTTP traffic is used,
clients shall not be able to start a download, until some bandwi...

How calculate bandwith - How listeners
Hi!
I am newbie using broadcast for internet. I have two lines ADSL 768Kbps each
one. Each line has connected a server doing stremaing with icecast.
Somebody tell me that my bandwith is so low for much listeners. He told me
that max people listen my radio station is 32 :(
I wanna know how if it is true.
I have a project to build my own radio station using my lines but this way
it is imposible.
Somebody can give me hope about this.

TC with bandwith adaptative for Wireless network
Hello,
I would want interested in implemeting QoS for a wireless network, where
we have variated services like: VOIP, ssh, ftp, www, mail, ftp ...etc
Like we Know, this kind of network have high variation in bandwith of link.
we want to introduce a form of adapting the parameter of qdisc that
depends of bandwith, with this variances.
In sumarize, an adaptative design with the bandwith of each Wifi link.
Is that possible with linux?, what can we do this? or what could be the
best strategy?
Thanks for all and...

is it possible to bring speed below 1000 bit/s
...d out that fldigi a digimode application for Amateur
Radio supports a dual 1000 Baud PSK mode. I thought "that's fast" and started
looking around which sort of Data I could put into that.
A typical ssb Voice signal has a bandwidth of about 1.9 to 2.4 KHz round about.
The shorter the bandwith the more a signal can reach.
So I started wondering if it is maybe possible to compress a voice signal down
to a bandwith of 1000 KHz which would be a PSK 1000 mode with a fully open
Codec?
The only thing I found so far is MELP (800 Bit/s), but, according to Wikipedia,
it has some Patent rights...
