Low-bitrate audio encode/stream application
I am totally new to icecast, and would appreciate a pointer in the right direction. My application is to encode audio (at the linux server) at a low bit rate, say ~16 kbps, for transmission to a decoder at another location. The audio source will be bandlimited (basically voice grade circuit such as you'd find in a telephone application.) The decoder end (connected via a TCP/IP session) would be a Windows CE 3.0 machine which may be limited to MP3 decode format. I've looked through what documentation I could find on icecast and haven't s...

Audio Speed Variability
John, Thanks for the reply! You mentioned output sample rates should be 44100 or 48000, should I worry about input (Mic) Sample rates as well? (Currently I was requesting the sample rate on both ends to be 16000 samplesPerSecond, for ease of passing into the codec) Also, do you recommend any particular resampler that I should use, or are any of the ones out there probably okay, or should

Opus 1.2.1 released
Hi everyone, We just made an Opus 1.2.1 minor release to fix a relatively rare issue where the 1.2 encoder would wrongly assume a signal to be bandlimited to 12 kHz and not encode frequencies between 12 and 20 kHz. This only happens on a few clips, but it is good to update to avoid a potential loss of quality. There are no other changes compared to 1.2. Please report any problems. Cheers, Jean-Marc -------------- next part -------------- An...

...e with your product's licensing/distribution terms. There are quite a few options out there, but I haven't investigated any of them. It's probably reasonable to replicate the sample points yourself and run the result through an FIR or IIR low-pass filter kernel that's hardwired to bandlimit the resulting data for the rate your codec uses. E.g., 16000 Hz to 44100 Hz would involve making two or three copies of each sample point as necessary, then running an FIR or IIR filter calculated for 0.36 Nyquist. If you have only one input and one output stream to deal with, both with fixed rat...
