True! I agree with you Rowland that is a weakness. Unfortunately that is
a universal weakness shared by all password-based authentication
methods. I guess you would have to go with SSH-style encryption keys and
certificates to circumvent that problem entirely which might bamboozle
ordinary website users.
Dynamic bind does remove the need to create an extra special omnipotent
account with a never-expiring password though. So on that basis I am
saying it is more secure (but not absolutely secure since there are no
absolutes in life heh ;) )

Is libasound_module_pcm_speex.so no-longer or is it as I expect me being a noob with the compile?
I was just trying the AGC which would be brilliant but it doesn’t seem to exist and the compile has me bamboozled as after it still doesn’t exist?
As said apols, but a quick helper would be really appreciated.

McLeod Integrated T1 - no PRI?
...on the
T is up and there are no alarms. We are both totally confused.
I am pretty sure that it is something on their end, because I have
configured many a T1/PRI without problems. If anything, the fact that
this is an "integrated product" may have something to do with it, but I
am bamboozled by the fact that HDLC data works and PRI does not. I also
tried it without the nethdlc lines, no dice.
"pri intense debug span 1" shows SABME's going out with nothing else
happening. Currently this T is connected to a Te110p, but we also tried
a te405p with the same results....

indexing into a data.frame using another data.frame that also contains values for replacement
...A NA NA
NA NA NA NA NA NA
A, 21_2 3.3 2.5 67.2 44.3 53 66
What I want to see is the following:
>df3
21_2 22_2 23_2
A 3.3 NA 66.0
B 44.3 2.5 NA
C NA 53.0 67.2
I will greatly appreciate any help that can be given as I am
completely bamboozled by this problem and although I found many useful
things in my search for an answer, I did not find out how to do this.
Thanks,
Alice

Disabling password expiry for a AD service account for accessing LDAPS, and security best practices.
Dear samba-list, please disregard my previous post.
Since posting I have found a way to avoid the need to create a dedicated
AD service account purely to allow Redmine to authenticate via LDAPS and
AD. This neatly circumvents my original issue and is much more secure to
boot.
For future Redmine users googling, refer to this document here:

SSH known host file should store port as well as host

only by host. Would it be possible to modify the openSSH client to

Record() and problems converting with sox.
...get the error message:
sox: Input and Output rates must be different to use resample effect
I get the same error message with
$ sox -t la inputfile.alaw -r 8000 outputfile.gsm resample -ql
And also with WAV, ulaw and everything else. I've trawled through the man
page and am still completely bamboozled - it doesn't explain exactly what is
necessary for it to work properly.
I'm currently running sox version 12.17.6 (the latest) with gsm support
enabled.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Nick.

samba 3.0.4 domain woes
...amba 3.0.4 domain running on Slackware 9.1. I haven't used windows
since Win 95 days and am not up to speed with it at all. Also, i've
tried the O'Reilly Using Samba book (2nd edition), read the samba docs,
and browsed the mailing lists but there is so much information I'm even
more bamboozled than ever.
I have some questions I hope someone might shed some light on for me:
- Does pdbedit completely replace smbpasswd as an account creation tool?
- Can I forget about mksmbpasswd.sh now? It doesn't appear to be
included now anyway.
- If i do away with WINS, lmhosts and broadcasts an...
