Three questions - loading(sourcing a file??), summaries to bitmaps, and error messages
R helpers, I have three questions about R and was wondering if I could get some help. First, I am trying to send the output of a a summary command - summary("info") to a bitmap file instead of the default device. Anybody know how to send a summary to a bitmap device? Second - this question is more difficult. What I am trying to do is have Perl (because I already have the data

File size limit of 2Gb ish ?
Hi all, I am running samba 3.0.14 on ubuntu breezy badger networked with another ubuntu machine and my XP laptop. File sharing is great except when a file exceeds 1.5 - 2 GB. The file transfer fails after 1.5 - 2 GB with a file to large error. This seems to be a limit for linux - windows and linux - linux which is a pain when trying to move large DVD iso's. How should I denormalise a data frame list of lists column?
Hi, I have a data frame where one column is a list of lists. I would like to subset the data frame based on membership of the lists in that column and be able to 'denormalise' the data frame so that a row is duplicated for each of its list elements. Example code follows: # The data is read in in this form with the c2 list values in single strings which I then split to give lists: > f1

Testing an interaction with a random effect in lmer
Hi, I was hoping to get some advice regarding the testing of interactions, when one factor is modelled as a random effect... I have a model with binomial error structure where the response variable is the proportion of time spent at the main sett (animals were tracked for 28 consecutive days in each season, and were recorded either at the main sett or an outlier sett, so the response variable is

Dynamic server address
Hi! My mail server (ubuntu breezey badger) is connected by ADSL and has a dynamic address. I have noticed that, every day after the IP address changes, dovecot is no longer reachable from the net. Iguess this is because dovecot doesn't register this change and continues to listen on a non-existing interface/address. I'm trying to solve this problem by putting a script in /etc/ppp/ip-up/

Sharing out unix home directory via samba
Hello Sharing out unix home directory via samba. Home directory is /home/% username% . However, samba insists on sharing this directory as /home/% domain%/%username% . So a user can see their home directory as server %username% from windows. But, when they click on it, they get an error and the samba log says that the share /home/%domain%/%username% doesn't exist. Thanks Regards, Komal

Pegasus - Crashes on Sending
I'm running Pegasus 4.31 via the latest version of Wine on Ubuntu's Breezy Badger version. I've looked at the Wine applications page for bugs etc and Pegasus crashing on sending mail is documented. It shows as bug 1611 and shows as resolved but I cannot fathom out what the resolution is. My Pegasus appears to run fine except when I press the send button whereupon pegasus

Python dependency in packages?
I apologize if this isn't the correct destination for these errors, but I tried installing xen on my ubuntu (breezy badger) system via: deb-src http://packages.debianbase.de/sources/xen3 ./ and then tried building locally via apt-get source xen. The only problem appears to be the explicit python2.3 dependency in : debian/rules debian/libxen-python.install a simple s/python2.3/python2.4/

Ups! Maybe it's time somebody corrected that statement then - the wiki seems the right place to put the correct algorithm, IMHO. Cheers, Silvia. Compiling SAMBA on Solaris 10 to use AD on Windows 2008 server
We've just set up a number of linux servers to access our AD server (Windows server 2008) and now have to set up a Solaris server. I've downloaded, compiled and install Samba (3.4.2), configured kerberos and am now trying to get it to join the AD. I get the following error: samba-3.4.2/source3# net ads join -U username Enter username's password: [2009/10/13 13:10:42, 0]

Lotus Notes and Daylight Saving Time
Hi Folks, how do you handle the change from standard time to daylight saving time? We are using LotusNotes 6.5.1 and Wine 20041019 on Kubuntu 5.10 Breezy Badger. This is the combination where we experienced the least amount of Bugs. Our hosts run UTC on the hardwareclock and live in the timezone Europe/Vienna, which will change from CET to CEST on sunday. Tests have shown, that

sshd dies when starting gkrellm
sshd also dies when certain other kinds of traffic is generated, such as `man pw' using the most pager[1], and many x11 apps such as emacs. However, it is stable when running simple x11 apps such as xeyes, and the link its self is stable -- a terminal will stay connected without issue for days, as long as not much happens in it. Also a sshfs connection dies immediately. ssh -Y karren gkrellm
