try removing it with samba tool first. how is on the wiki. (remove dead server) something like that. removing is an option but should be only the last option. and make sure you have good backups of the samba databases. double check it! make backups when samba is down. Hi! I have a samba 4.3.11 installation running on ubuntu xenial (the packaged version installed via apt-get). With that version, the etc directory in /var/lib/samba is missing. Is this supposed to be a link to /etc/samba (or vice versa)? Just to make shure that my backup is fine. I couldn't find any information about that on the web. Kind regards, Peter
