Besides, obviously, the potential shared data on file servers, can't you just use the script that is introduced for backing up DCs? I want to backup my Samba AD. I have found and read the following: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Backup_and_restore_an_Samba_AD_DC The guide refers to a script in the source however I have installed straight from the package manager. Is there a script/guide available that does not need the source?

I know it is better to install more than one DC to have replication, but in a so small setup, would it be possible to rely only on VM restoration in case of a problem (physical server broken, wrong manipulation on AD LDAP…)?
