Smbmount with networked windows system backups
...I would like to use BRU to back up our entire network. But when I did a few trial runs with BRU and the aforementioned smbmounted windows systems,they never completely backed up. BRU tech support suggested working with the smbmount to see if that would help. I am wondering if anyone out there backsup an smbmounted windows system. Are there some extra arguments that one sends to smbmount in order to allow for this? Does anyone out there perhaps use BRU to backup an smbmounted system? Any thoughts, ideas, comments or wisdom would be greatly appreciated... Thanks in advance, April Escamilla

backing up comments
...cdplayer.ini & backing up that), or if I have comments in the Vorbis files that aren't stored in cdplayer.ini, such as the tags discussed in the current "Vorbis comment question" thread, I was thinking that it would be usefull to have such a tool that reads through the collection, backsup the comments, so if I lose them through system fkukup (I am using win98 after all :-P), through viral attack, or because I simply re-encode the collection with a newer version of the Vorbis codec. Any thoughts ? <p>--- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project ho...

nt->samba backup suggestions
...pe drive failures cause main server downtime. gameplan... Build Linux-samba box with 3 dds3 drives and 4 100Mb nics. Add another nic to each nt/win2k server. Build 3 crossover ethernet cables. Configure nics with private ip addresses. Mount nt shares with smbfs or use smbclient. Linux script backsup/compresses specific nt files to a local tar file and then copy file to tape. I had some problems connecting via the crossover cable, but did connect via primary nics. If anyone has attempted something similar, let me know. Thanks, Dale
