tunnel connection like a service with cygwin or other products?
...am looking for a kind of service under nt that builds a secure tunnel connection from the pc to the server at time of login of the user at the desktop and going into the background after that. That means the conncetion is always open until the user shuts down the pc. It should run completely in the backgroung, not in a minimized window... Does anybody have an idea? Thanks! Header image of blog.centos.org
I noticed that the header backgroung image of https://blog.centos.org was updated. This brought back some memories around couple of suggestions (or "complaints") when the page was first set up. Fabian thinks it's worth discussing this on the -docs mailing list. :) One thing was that the header image of the page remained...

Can be seen at the minimal.rb sample: > ruby -rubygems minimal.rb make the window biggewr, open "About"dialog, close it, send the applation window to the backgroung - so that it is hidden by an other window - and take it to the forground again. You will have to do this procedure several times. Then the application crashes with: /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/wxruby-1.9.7-x86-linux/lib/wx/classes/app.rb:16: [BUG] object allocation during garbage collection phase ruby...

a general question
Hi everyone, Although this question is more related to ChIP and ChIP-seq, it could be probably anchored in a more general statistical context. The question is : what method is better to assess the significance of the change in a signal (the signal can be DNA binding, for instance) given the background and 2 conditions. <. condition1 (eg no treatment) : background = 1;

colors for background and plotting area
Dear all, I am trying to prepare some figures where I'd like the color of the plot region (i.e., the area bounded by the axes) to be different from the margin area (i.e., the area of the figure not within the axes region). I can use "bg" but that changes the background of everything? How can I accomplish what I want? Thanks, Ramon -- Ramón Díaz-Uriarte Triana 47 28016 Madrid

trying to get better ogg quality for this clip
hi folks, in my (unlucky) first test of ogg vs other encoders, i found a case where wma and mp3pro sound much better than ogg at 64k. can anyone suggest a setting that i haven't tried yet that can rival the wma and mp3pro samples at 64k? it's the "gravel effect" that is troublesome. the part in question is the first 15 seconds of this wave file:
